As Summer rolls into San Antonio, there’s no better time or place to wind down. With its revamped wine menu curated by Beverage Director and advanced sommelier, Austin Tabbone, it’s the perfect date night, girls’ night, or solo outing spot for those looking to get more familiar with wine, or to imbibe with thoughtful selections.
Within the latest menu iteration, Tabbone introduces new bubbles, orange, and still dry rosé wines, and an entirely new list of “Fresh and Citrusy” and “Red and Berry Fruited” wines. Inclusions range from the local Texas High Plains Dry Blanc Bubbles and Still Dry Rosé to a Chilean Orange wine and a Dense and Peppery French red wine; there’s something for palette and preference.
“Doing Spring and Summer menus is so much fun because you can really lean into the fresher side of wines. I love showcasing the seasonality of wine in the same way we experience the seasonality of food!” said Austin Tabbone, Beverage Director at The Newstand. “I think we talk about the fruit flavors in wine so often, but tend to neglect the more floral aromatics that wines can show, so I’m really quite excited to be able to showcase that side of wine as well!”
Wine Flights
For those looking for variety, Tabbone has also created all-new wine flights like the Choosin’ Texas: featuring local wines such as the McPherson Picpoul, Ab Astris Aurora Rosé, and the Las Espinas Red Blend – all hailing from the Texas High Plains.
