San Antonio Downtown Dining for Lent/Easter

Here are a Few Dining Options to Consider for Lent and Easter:

The Newstand Coffee & Sandwiches

One of San Antonio’s favorite cafes, The Newstand will be offering a seasonal selection that’s light, flavorful, and completely meat-free. Named The Courant, this sandwich was created with the intention of incorporating produce within their upcoming peak seasonality. Layered with nutrition, The Courant combines deliciously complex baby heirloom tomatoes, soft straticella cheese, pesto, basil, fresh arugula, and rich olive oil on top of golden-brown sesame bastone bread.

Also available only on Easter Sunday, the upscale eatery’s $59 prix fixe menu begins with Deviled Eggs & Pork Belly. An appetizing starter with a complexity of flavors, this dish has thick cut maple bacon, truffled yolk mousse, hot honey gastrique, before being topped with the restaurant’s iconic jalapeno cornbread crumble. The main event is a hearty Short Rib Benedict, which highlights a 48-hour braised beef short rib and chorizo & lime hollandaise sauce on top of savory chipotle cheddar biscuits and duck fat hash brown cake. End the perfect holiday feast with “24-Carrot Cake”, a warmly-spiced cake that’s paired with cheesecake mousse, candied pecans, carrot ginger gel and garnished with an edible gold leaf, a gem that surpasses even the best easter egg treasures.
