Houston Chef Bowie Launches New Specialty Dessert Concept in Midtown; Sugar FRK
Chef Don Bowie, the creative force behind the iconic flavors at Taste Kitchen + Bar in Downtown Houston, just opened a rule-breaking new dessert concept in Midtown called “Sugar Frk“!
Sugar Frk, is an enticing dessert café and bar that serves specialty sweets and gourmet coffee, along with wine and frozen daiquiris! Located at 314 Gray Street in Houston’s Post Midtown Square, the café is open seven days a week: Monday – Thursday from 7am-10pm, Friday from 7am-Midnight, Saturday from 9am-Midnight, and Sunday from 9am-10pm. Last Weekend, July 14-16, 2023, was their Grand Opening Celebration!
The specialty bakery is poised to captivate dessert enthusiasts with a delectable array of sugar masterpieces, from custom birthday and wedding cakes to an assortment of one-of-a-kind sweets available daily. Guests at Sugar Frk can also indulge sweet and savory pastries during breakfast, and boozy ice creams, tantalizing daiquiris, and an excellent selection of wines, coffees, and teas.
When guests step into the world of Sugar Frk, they will be transported to an elegant, sweet retreat. The café has a charming ambiance and décor reminiscent of a French pâtisserie, making it the ideal destination for a romantic date night, delightful after-dinner treats, or hosting private events.
The menu was curated by Chef Bowie and Pastry Chef Tramaine Covington, a 10-year industry professional, Pastry Chef with Cloud 10 Creamery, and owner of Love & Ate Bakeshop. Every delicious item is crafted from scratch and baked fresh daily. Even the marshmallows are lovingly prepared in-house!
Dessert enthusiasts can expect a daily menu filled with indulgent treats like fresh baked doughnuts in flavors like Filled Chocolate Cheesecake, Orange Creamsicle, and Filled Lemon Meringue, filled with delights like chocolate ganache, lemon curd, and banana pudding and topped with sweet glazes and chocolate butter cream! There is also a host of craveable cookies in flavors like Key Lime Pie, Banana Pudding, and chocolate-dipped S’mores with house-made marshmallow cream! Sugar Frk also offers deliciously different boozy frozen beverages like frozen Espresso Martinis, spirited frozen Frappuccino’s, and frozen Daiquiris in flavors like Banana Pudding and Strawberry Cheesecake!
