WHAT:

The Children’s Ballet of San Antonio (CBSA) continues to pull out all the stops celebrating its 10th anniversary, this time by bringing back its phenomenal interpretation of the classic ballet The Children’s Nutcracker and adding another beloved Christmastime tale to its repertoire. This year, CBSA will premiere The Polar Express: The Musical! at Downtown’s iconic Empire Theatre on December 6 – 8, with The Nutcracker returning to the Riverwalk’s Lila Cockerell Theatre on December 13 – 15. Whether you have a preschool prima donna eager to join Clara and her Nutcracker Prince around the Christmas Tree or a talented tween actor hoping his stage debut comes on a train to the North Pole, young performers have so many opportunities to showcase their unique skills by auditioning for either (or both!) holiday production. Dancers, musicians, actors, and gymnasts ages 3 – 19 are invited to audition for The Children’s Nutcracker on August 17, and dynamic performers ages ten and up are eligible to audition for The Polar Express: The Musical on August 16, highlighting their special talents in acting, music, gymnastics, and a wide range of dance. In addition to the expanded roles available for children of all skill levels, these auditions are now free. More information available here.
