Beautiful River Walk Hotel to Host Two Mendoza, Argentina Wine Dinners
Beautiful River Walk hotel, Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, to host two Mendoza, Argentina Wine Dinners. These events will take diners on a culinary tour of Argentina while showcasing some of the country’s finest wines.
Hotel Valencia Riverwalk is hosting two Argentinean Wine Dinners this fall, on Thursday, Sept. 12 and Thursday, Oct. 3 in its Argentinean-inspired restaurant, Dorrego’s. Each wine dinner will feature some of Mendoza, Argentina’s most esteemed wines and will pair these with a delectable multi-course dinner.
Mendoza is Argentina’s premier wine-making region. Located in the eastern foothills of the Andes Mountains, Mendoza vineyards are planted at some of the highest altitudes of any wine in the world. The sunny and dry climate, with its warm days and cool nights, creates ideal grape-growing conditions.
On Tuesday, Sept. 12, Mendoza winemaker Luis Reginato will present wines from the Lucca, La Posta and Reginato wineries. These small-family wineries are renowned for their old vine varietals that are sustainably grown in the high-altitude Uco Valley.
On Tuesday, Oct. 3, Mendel Winery CEO Diego Surasky will present wines from the historic Mendel vineyards. Mendel wines classically combine Vintner Roberto de la Mota’s prestigious wine-making skills and heritage vineyards to make some of Mendoza’s most elegant wines.
Hotel Valencia Riverwalk General Manager Safet Dokara recently visited Argentina and spent time in the Mendoza wine country. While there, he visited a number of wineries, including the famous Mendel Winery.
“Here at Hotel Valencia Riverwalk, we want to introduce the great wines of Argentina to San Antonians,” Dokara said. “There is no better way than to pair these wines with the authentic Argentinian cuisine of our restaurant Dorrego’s. In addition, our esteemed Argentinean guest presenters will share some of their knowledge of Mendoza’s finest wines with the diners.”
The Wine Dinners will each begin with a reception at 6 p.m. in the Naranja Bar, followed by a multi-course dinner at 6:30 p.m. Each wine will be introduced by Vintners Reginato and Surasky. They will share insights into each wine’s origins, character and flavor profiles. Each course will feature Argentinean-inspired dishes that complement the featured wines. At the conclusion of each dinner, diners will have the opportunity to purchase bottles of the featured wines signed by the visiting winemakers.
“We are excited to bring some of these vineyard treasures to San Antonio and plan to continue developing our relationships with various Mendoza winemakers,” Dokara said. “We look forward to hosting additional Mendoza Wine Dinners in the future.”
