The Hayden Broadway Diner Offers an Irish Remix Menu March 15th – March 17th for Lunch and Dinner
The Hayden, located at 4025 Broadway St., San Antonio, TX 78209, has developed an Irish Remix Menu in celebration of St.Patrick’s Day which will be available from March 15th – March 17th for lunch and dinner from 11am-10pm (or until sell-out).
Unique Menu
This unique menu is especially important to The Hayden’s owner, Adam Lampinstein, as well as The Hadyen’s Executive Chef, Bill Corbet. The Hayden has developed a fusion menu featuring signature Jewish and Irish dishes.
Chef Bill shares the importance of developing the Irish Remix Menu: “We’re highlighting the specialties of two immigrant groups that became neighbors in their adopted homeland. Being the sons and daughters of Irish and Jewish immigrants as well as many other parts of the world we welcome everyone to our friendly neighborhood diner here at The Hayden.”
The Irish Remix Menu will feature a selection of items often considered to be Jewish-Irish collaborations, such as the famous corned beef. Early Irish immigrants were drawn to settle in Jewish neighborhoods due to the various parallels that the cultures shared. So, the Irish purchased most of their meat from kosher butchers. This is why what we now consider Irish corned beef is actually Jewish corned beef.
The menu includes Irish Soda Bread, Tullamore D.E.W.-soaked cherry and raisin quick bread served with jam and butter, Corn Beef Sandwich, a deli classic on rye with coleslaw and deli mustard, the gift the Jews gave to the Irish, Lox BLT Sandwich, cured and smoked salmon with black pepper bacon, lettuce, tomato and dill mayo, Irish Stew, braised lamb with carrots, potato, onion and thyme, served with Irish soda bread, Pastrami and Colcannon, the Jewish staple meets the Irish Faithful with smoked, cured and steamed brisket on top of creamy mash potatoes and cabbage, buttered carrots and a side of deli mustard.
