Copa Wine Bar & Tasting Room Brings a French Tradition to San Antonio
Stone Oak’s Copa Wine Bar & Tasting Room located at 19141 Stone Oak Pkwy, Suite 704, San Antonio, Texas 78258, is celebrating a big day in the wine world, Beaujolais Nouveau Day, on November 18th from 4pm-11pm.
This major event is a celebration of the end of the harvest season for wine growers throughout France. As far back as the 1800’s, wine growers would gather at the conclusion of the season & toast to the good harvest with some of the young wines produced that year. These vin de primeur or “early wines” have only been fermented for a few weeks & are meant to be enjoyed during November. Each year, a few barrels of each of these early wines were distributed amongst the local restaurants & bars. The tradition has made the transition to the United States, with the first import of early wines coming to New York in 1972. The Beaujolais Nouveau, specifically made from Gamay grapes in the Beaujolais region of France is the most prized of these early wines & is highly sought after for it’s complex & fruity notes.
Guests will have the opportunity to sample these limited quantity wines on November 18th with an exclusive wine tasting event starting at 4pm. Each flight will consist of 5 samples for $25. Patrons wishing to participate are encouraged to come early, as the wine bar cannot guarantee quantities of the limited release wines. To complete the experience, guests can also indulge in a hearty food special of Pork Sliders to compliment the fruity flavor of the wines for an additional charge.
Copa Wine Bar has been a part of the San Antonio food scene for over 16 years & offers a variety of wines from around the world as well as Texas craft beers. Additionally, they recently were awarded two local awards: ‘Best Wine Bar 2021’ by MySA Best of the City, and ‘Best Wine List 2020’ by The San Antonio Current.
