High West Distillery Takes its Hat Off to Whiskey for International Whiskey Day


High West’s
 Barrel Finished Cocktails are the first nationally-available bottled whiskey cocktail from High West. Both new Barrel-Finished Cocktails are mixed with a harmonious blend of bourbon and rye for added complexity and then matured in used rye barrels, creating a rich, smooth and well-rounded final product.

The Manhattan, which first appeared in print in O.H Byron’s ‘The Modern Bartenders Guide’ in 1884, is a true classic. We love this drink for its harmony, balancing just the right amount of sweet, rich, bitter, and spice. Like any classic, you respect what makes it great. That’s why we use the time-tested Manhattan recipe featuring sweet vermouth, a dash of aromatic bitters, and our bourbon and rye whiskeys. What isn’t a classic, but adds depth and complexity, is barrel aging. For that reason, we let our Manhattan age in used rye barrels to fully marry the flavors. Worth the wait, we hope you enjoy this most intricate rendition of a true classic.

How to Enjoy

Pour it over ice and garnish with a cherry.
Unopened bottles have a 3 Year shelf life, once opened, refrigerate for up to 30 days.

Old Fashioned Barrel Finished Cocktail

Few cocktails in history showcase a well-made whiskey better than the Old Fashioned. Simple, elegant and spirit-forward, it’s a whiskey lovers cocktail. We drive complexity in our Old Fashioned by using both bourbon and rye whiskeys, which lends earthy-sweet corn notes and dry rye spice, pulled together with an unrefined raw sugar simple syrup and bitters. We then rest the cocktail in second-use rye whiskey barrels to marry the flavors and round out its character, ultimately lending an enhanced fullness to the drink. So as you raise your glass high to the mountain sunset, rest assured we’ve taken every step to craft a cocktail for discerning whiskey lovers like us.

Name: Kid Curry

Ingredients:

1.5 oz American Prairie Bourbon 

0.5 oz Aperol 

0.25 oz Cynar

0.5 oz Lemon Juice

0.25 oz Sudachi Juice

0.5 oz Garam Masala Syrup 

1 Dash Saline Solution (1:5)

4 Watermelon cubes

Fresh Curry Leaves

Preparation: Muddle watermelon in shaker tin, add remaining ingredients. Shake with ice then double strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a fresh curry leaf.
