Volare Pizza is Launching a Redesigned Menu at Their New Location

Alamo Heights Pizzeria Moves Homestead After 30 Years

Volare Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria, now located at 3902 McCullough Ave San Antonio, TX 78212 has taken time during COVID to develop a new menu, as well as move from their original homestead which stood at 5054 Broadway for over 30 years to the historic Olmos Pharmacy.

Volare Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria is one of the first family owned pizzerias to open in San Antonio. The original location opened on Broadway in Alamo Heights in 1972, where it has been a neighborhood staple for over 30 years. Chef Antonio Sorgente became an owner of Volare over 15 years ago, bringing with him flavors of his hometown of Naples, Italy. Eder Muniz, pupil turned owner,  studied under Chef Sorgente for years as he learned the ways of an authentic pizzaiolo. Together the two have brought authentic Italian flavors to San Antonio.

Prior to the COVID era, Volare operated out of their original location at 5054 Broadway, and at 3902 McCullough Ave., once the historic Olmos Pharmacy. Now, in an effort to better serve their guests, Volare is closing the location they first called home. In a statement posted to their Facebook page, owners shared the news: “As you may know, Volare first opened our doors at 5054 Broadway over 30 years ago. Recently we have been operating out of our McCullough location, and have made the decision to say goodbye to our first home. We thank you all for the memories and meals that you shared with us at 5054 Broadway and we look forward to making new ones with you at 3902 McCullough Ave”.
