‘HAUTE SOUTH’ Southerleigh’s Newest Concept is Due to Open in The Rim this September
Southerleigh Hospitality Group, a San Antonio-born group of hand-crafted eateries and microbreweries featuring a modern take on Texas’ coastal classics and locally brewed beers, is excited to announce a new restaurant concept coming to San Antonio, Southerleigh Haute South (previously announced as Southerleigh Bird & Biscuit). The new fine casual concept, located at The RIM development on the Northwest side of San Antonio, will open in September 2020 and will include brunch, lunch, dinner, happy hour, take-out and delivery options. Southerleigh Haute South will feature a menu based on Southern-style food including Southerleigh’s signature fried chicken, seafood, and a full oyster bar, paired with Southerleigh’s locally brewed beers. The restaurant will also feature a unique cocktail program, an approachable wine list, and more.
“Our fried chicken and seafood have always been some of the fan favorites at our Pearl location, so when the idea to create a fast-casual concept featuring these items began to take shape a few years back, we were inspired by our customers to further develop our recipes while searching for a location that felt like the perfect fit to launch our new brand,” said Southerleigh Chef and Co-owner Jeff Balfour. “We love connecting people to outstanding food experiences and The RIM seemed like a homerun location.”
In addition to the signature fried chicken and oysters, the Southerleigh Haute South menu will feature seafood platters, sandwiches, and salads, as well as lighter options including Southern brined rotisserie chicken with affordable prices ranging from $5 to $18. The bar will offer handcrafted cocktails, frozen drinks and Southerleigh’s very own brews ranging from $6 to $13. The all-day menu will also include happy hour and brunch specials on the weekends.
Newly released menu items include:
- Southerleigh’s Famous Fried Chicken, available in ¼ bird, ½ bird, whole bird or two birds. Served with a choice of side.
- Selections of Iced Oysters with balsamic mignonette and frozen cucumber mignonette.
- Fried Crab Legs, dijon remoulade and comeback sauce, corn and seasoned fries.
- Shrimp and Crab Boils with signature butter sauce, corn, and served over seasoned fries.
- Cocktail options include a Daiquiri, Hurricane, Milk Punch, French Julep and a twist on the Old Fashioned called the Rooster & Biscuit.
- Dessert Hand Pies: Apple, Pecan, Strawberry or Peach.
“We are thrilled to add another local, chef-driven restaurant to The RIM’s offering,” said Chris Oviatt, general property manager for The RIM. “Southerleigh Haute South is a fun, unique concept which we believe will have broad appeal to residents and visitors alike. We look forward to its delicious arrival.”
Southerleigh remains committed to the safety of guests and staff during COVID-19 and will follow the same cleaning and safety procedures at Haute South. Safety measures include an outside professional sanitation crew that fogs, deep cleans and disinfects the entire restaurant at least once a week; touchless QR code menus; refrain from leaving condiments, silverware, flatware, glassware, or other traditional tabletop items on an unoccupied table; additional daily sanitizing; prescreening the health of employees and temperature checks; frequent hand washing; mandatory masks for employees and guests; mandatory gloves for employees; socially-distant tables; and offering hand sanitizer. Southerleigh will also offer curbside pickup and delivery options at Haute South.
The Southerleigh Haute South space is approximately 4,100 square feet with ample indoor and patio seating. The address is 5822 Worth Parkway #112. Opening date and hours of operation will be announced soon. For more information, please visit www.southerleigh.com.
