The San Antonio River Walk has Started Opening Up to Visitors Again and a Delicious Place to get Breakfast & Lunch is La Villita Cafe
Right smack dab in the middle of all the action on the River Walk is where you will find La Villita Cafe. Located in La Villita Historic Arts Village and just across the river from the Arneson River Theater, you won’t find a better location to see, eat and play on the River Walk. It is minutes from attractions like the Briscoe Western Art Museum, Little Church of La Villita and Hemisfair Park. They are serving both a to-go menu or the regular menu. You can take advantage of their large patio and dine at a social distance.
But the best reason to eat at La Villita Cafe is the food. They serve fresh, delicious breakfast and lunch items all day. Have the Spinach Florentine Breakfast Sandwich with spinach, ham, cheese and egg on a Ciabatta roll. Or you might like to try one of their varied Breakfast Tacos; potato & egg, chorizo & egg or a brisket & egg are among the selections. The local favorite here in San Antonio is the chorizo & egg. This one can be a little spicy, but it’s delicious. Tacos are just $2.40 each!
You will also find off the menu weekly specials like their Brisket Quesadilla which comes with fries. This delicious favorite is filled with brisket, potatoes and cheese and topped with sour cream, green onions and salsa, of course! This hearty dish will give you the fuel you need to power through all the attractions on and around the River Walk.
Lunch items include tempting choices like Strawberry Spinach Salad
with sliced strawberries served on a bed of baby spinach with
pecans and feta cheese with a raspberry vinaigrette.
Or a Ciabatta Chicken Sandwich with grilled chicken breast on toasted ciabatta bread with pesto and melted cheese and your choice of veggies.
The Bolivar Burger is a 1/2 lb of grilled Angus beef served on a Kaiser bun with lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles with your choice of cheese.
For all sandwiches you can add chips and a drink for $2.95 or a cup of soup or fruit for $2.95. Add avocado for $1.25.
They have a great coffee bar with a selection of both hot and cold brews, specialty coffee drinks and flavored coffee. So stop in for a beverage of your choice before heading out to discover the sights and shops of La Villita.
And as the weather heats up, you know what would taste really good right now? How about an ice cream float made with Texas’ own Blue Bell Ice Cream. Or for the souls who are needing a beer, get yourself a cold one from the huge selection of brews.
La Villita Cafe has ample seating both inside or on their large covered patio. So come, sit and visit for awhile. They have many safety protocols in place to help you feel safe while enjoying our river and all it has to offer.
They are also doing to-go orders. Just call in to place your order or stop by.
