New Online Adventure, Beyond the Briscoe, Delivers the Museum and the American West to You

Wide open spaces are something everyone craves right now. The Briscoe Western Art Museum is answering the call of the cowboy and cowgirl in us all, delivering the rugged, raw beauty and resilient spirit of the West online through Beyond the Briscoe. The initiative brings the museum’s collection and exhibitions to life beyond the museum and its home on the River Walk, sharing the stories told through Western art and artifacts through a new weekly newsletter with online content on the museum’s website for everyone to enjoy.

Beyond the Briscoe gathers the best of the West, sharing the stories through art, artifacts and history. From exclusive interviews with Western artists to behind the scenes tours, historic trivia, children’s activities, cowboy culture and more, Beyond the Briscoe has something to inspire everyone. “The Cowboy Way” offers a look at how things were done in the West, including recipes and tips for a Western way of life. Buckaroos will enjoy “How the West Was Fun”, ideas and activities for children, including story time suggestions, coloring and crafts for the whole family. Other features highlight the museum’s galleries and collection, including virtual tours and insight. For the kid in all of us, everyone is invited to take on the Briscoe’s “Build the West” challenge, a weekly Lego build for all ages. Everyone who wants to head West through their inbox may sign-up for the e-newsletter online.

Build the West

“The West is more than a location on a map. It’s history, heritage and a way of life that continues today. And it’s something we all can admire and enjoy no matter where we are, so we’re going Beyond the Briscoe to share it with everyone,” explained Michael Duchemin, President and CEO of the Briscoe Western Art Museum. “Bringing the West to life through the art and artifacts is the lifeblood of the Briscoe. Our collection, exhibitions and programs are designed to engage, educate and inspire. There’s nothing that limits us to only doing that inside the Briscoe.”
