Have You Ever Wanted to Have Your Own Float in the San Antonio River Walk Parade? The Virtual River Walk Parade is Your Chance!
The San Antonio River Walk has adapted from their usual parade format to offer a Virtual River Walk Parade. It will air on Facebook April 30th at 7 PM with submissions due by April 20th.
The public is encouraged to create and decorate a float from objects around their home. Film the water-worthy vessel floating in a tub, sink, birdbath, or pool and post on Facebook. Individuals, families, nonprofits, businesses, and clubs are all welcome to submit a float. This parade refuses to be taken seriously. Their goal is campy, silly, with tones of Monty Python and Saturday Night Live. They invite everyone to watch it!
If you wish to create a float for submission follow these simple steps:
1. Create and decorate a water-worthy vessel.
2. Film a 15-second horizontal (landscape) clip (no sound) of your entry float in water (tub, sink, pool, birdbath, etc.) from approximately 1 foot away. Be sure to shoot the video in landscape mode and keep your vessel at eye-level. Example (except film horizontally-please):
3. Go to Facebook, Like our page @TheSanAntonioRiverWalkOffical, and submit your video.
Post your video clip no later than Monday, April 20, at noon to our Facebook page with the following text:
I am entering my float in San Antonio’s VIRTUAL River Walk Parade. Not all floats will make it in the parade. Like my post to help get my float noticed.
Then list your Name, City and State, Age (if under 18)
The top entries will be edited together as a video and shown on Thursday, April 30th at 7 PM.
The best entry will receive a family four-pack of tickets to the 40th annual Ford Holiday River Parade on Friday, November 27, 2020.
The winner will be announced at the end of the video.
So they invite everyone to get a little creative as well as a little silly and join in the fun!
