A Cajun Life is Bringing Great Tasting Authentic Cajun Food and Lifestyle Products to Homes Everywhere for Fat Tuesday

It’s time to start gearing up for Mardi Gras which is on February 25 this year. Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday” which is the day before Ash Wednesday which begins a season of fasting, called Lent. (Fat Tuesday is also the last day of Carnival season.) So Mardi Gras is a day of parades, festivals and loads of eating mostly celebrated in Louisiana in the U. S.

So when it’s Mardi Gras party time you will want the right products to make all the wonderful Cajun food Louisiana is famous for. But finding the right products isn’t always so easy.

We all know that the best place to get the best Cajun food is in the confines of the great state of Louisiana. Or is it? A Cajun Life® is a company started by a couple from Louisiana who just happened to move to Oregon. Missing their home state cuisine, they started making and sharing their favorite recipes from back home with friends. Soon these friends started encouraging them to bring these products to Oregon and beyond. That’s how A CAJUN LIFE® took form. They started as a food cart then opened four restaurants. Now their focus is on growing their packaged food line. They are, quite simply, bringing great tasting authentic Cajun food and lifestyle products to homes all across the globe. Blended and packaged within minutes of their hometown, they are able to provide the authentic Cajun flavor most “Cajun” products are missing! Their products are as authentic as they come and most boast the Certified Cajun seal! It’s a certification that only true Cajun products are rewarded.

You will find A Cajun Life seasoning & rubs, Boxed Meals for things like Red Beans and Rice, Jambalaya & Gumbo, and Mixes for frying chicken, fish or making hush puppies. They even carry a mix for your seafood boil. Here in Texas, we like it for our Crawfish boils. Any of these products will boost your favorite Southern dishes!

And you are going to need something to wash all this spicy food down. Again they have you covered! Enter the Swamp Pop which uses real sugar cane for sweetening which is a nudge to Louisiana’s sugar cane crop. The name Swamp Pop emerged as a tribute to the Louisiana music genre of the same name – a mash-up of R&B, Country, and Cajun music that grew out of South Louisiana in the 1950′s. With names like Ponchatoula Pop Rouge, Satsuma Fizz & Praline Cream Soda you’ll be beckoned to a different place where sitting on a porch swing barefoot or dancing to the Cajun music is the right thing to do.

So what are your plans for Mardi Gras?

'A Cajun Life' Mardi Gras

I was busy trying their products so I can get my Mardi Gras on at home. I made up a batch of their Red Beans & Rice. All I had to do was add some good smoked Andouille sliced sausage add it along with the red beans & rice mix to a pot with water and let it cook. It was so easy and delicious!

Then I used their Fish Fry to fry me up some catfish. Just shake the fish in a zip bag of the fish fry and fry it. I’m telling you, this can’t get any easier. And the fish came out evenly coated with a nice brown crisp. Perfect!

I also had to try their Hush Puppy Mix. Who wants a fish fry without the Hush Puppies, right! The mix has everything in it like the red pepper for a spicy kick and green onions & garlic for nice flavor boost. All you do is mix it with an egg and some buttermilk. These puppies plump up moist inside and crispy brown on the outside. Best hush puppy mix I’ve every tried, hands down!

About A Cajun Life

Our story starts in the heart of Cajun country in my hometown of Eunice, Louisiana. As adults, my wife and I ended up in Oregon, but never lost the craving for true authentic Cajun food. After sharing our recipes with friends, we were encouraged to bring Cajun products to a broader audience. That’s when A Cajun Life was born. Our seasonings are blended and packaged within minutes of my hometown giving it the authentic flavors needed to create masterful dishes every time. From our table to yours, enjoy our line of Certified Cajun Products!

About Swamp Pop

Swamp Pop is the creation of John Petersen and Collin Cormier, two cousins from Lafayette, Louisiana. Collin, the owner and chef of a popular food truck, recognized the popularity of real cane sugar sodas among his lunch-time customers. Knowing the long history of sugarcane farming in Louisiana, the cousins were inspired to create their own flavors, honoring the amazing culinary history of South Louisiana and featuring real cane sugar from their home state.
