In Celebration of the Company’s 25th Anniversary Fish City Grill Tempts Palates with Delicious New Specialties
ALERT: Fish City Grill will be opening their second San Antonio location at Culebra Commons (Loop 1604 and Culebra) early this summer. So be sure to stay tuned right here for more news.
Fish City Grill is pleased to announce a new menu as part of the restaurants’ 25th anniversary evolution. The menu continues to offer old favorites for fans of the restaurants, while featuring six new flavor-forward items that are sure to tempt palates. The new menu debuted on Feb. 18.
I had the opportunity to visit Fish City Grill in San Antonio to try the new menu items. I do come in to this eatery about once a month, so I’m familiar with their menu. I like that their fish is always fresh and the chef here always creates a tasty way to prepare his dishes. I am glad to see some new items incorporated into their already delicious menu and so happy to be one of the first to try them.
Along with the new appetizer they also brought out two of their customer favorites, the Oyster Nachos, fried fresh oysters on a tortilla chip with chipotle tartar sauce and topped with a fresh pico de gallo and the Smokin’ Hot Shrimp (one of their original recipes), breaded shrimp in a honey chipotle sauce accented with diced jalapeno and topped with bleu cheese crumbles.
New on the appetizer list: Crispy Asian Brussels Sprouts. The sprouts come with a maple sriracha soy glaze for $8.99. They are absolutely delicious and sure to be a quick favorite. On to sandwiches: there is one new sandwich on the menu, and it’s a biggie: a New England Style Lobster & Shrimp Roll, which comes with Old Bay tarragon mayo on a split-top buttered brioche roll. It is absolutely piled high with our favorite crustaceans The roll sells for $19.99.
There are three new selections on the Favorites section of the menu. The first, a Garlic Caper Grilled Salmon, which comes with cherry tomatoes, lemon, white wine, almond pesto rice and seasonal veggies for $18.99. Next, Seared Scallops & Applewood Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, two large scallops, three jumbo shrimp beautifully arranged on mashed potatoes & garlic wilted spinach all in an Old Bay beurre blanc for $21.99. Last is a Jalapeño Stuffed Grilled Chicken, a large split chicken breast stuffed with a cheddar and tomato-stuffed jalapeno then topped with a roasted pepper cream sauce. It comes with Cuban black beans and white rice, for the great price of $14.99.
I will go back to have that chicken dish again soon which is weird for me to go to a fish restaurant for chicken. Yes, it’s that good.
There is one new dessert on the menu, and it’s luscious: Homemade Banana Pudding just like your mama used to make with nilla wafers. It’s a must have for $5.99.
Of course you don’t want to forget to check out the cocktail menu. The Bill’s Bloody Mary is the bomb. They wouldn’t tell me what is in it, but that’s OK. I will gladly go back to have this and with the okra, olive and large shrimp for garnish, it’s practically an appetizer, am I right!
The Frozen Gold Margarita isn’t too shabby either and you can expect an extra kick of Gran Gala from this drink!
So whatever you order, you will leave happy and full.
“We wanted to incorporate new menu items that would bring fresh flavors to our restaurants and speak to our customers,” noted Fish City Grill co-founder Bill Bayne. “The changes are part of our restaurants’ evolution as we celebrate our 25th anniversary.”
**Full Disclosure: I received dinner in exchange for my review, but not to worry, all opinions are 100% mine.
