SRG Wants to Inspire You with Plant-Based Make-Overs of Tailgate Favorites
Just in time for Super Bowl menu plans, here are some inspired plant-based make-overs of tailgate favorites. Ideal for those inspired by sustainability or looking for something new and delicious. Each food is designed by Chef Dina Paz, Culinary Director at the Sterling-Rice Group to score points with whatever team one roots for – and pay homage to two great food (and football) cities.
KC/SF Plant Based Showdown

For the Chiefs Fans:
Potato “Burnt Ends” are here to make your KC Barbecue dreams come true. You don’t have to sacrifice flavor and fun with this finger lickin’ version of Kansas City’s most popular food. Before your guests arrive, simply cook your fingerling potatoes in a pot of boiling water with garlic, thyme, and a touch of liquid smoke. When they are fully cooked, toss them in your favorite BBQ spice rub and sauce then roast them in the oven until crispy. You call the audible on extra sauce on the side for dipping.
For a heartier, yet healthy, offering try a vegan chili loaded with flavor and plenty of the good stuff to keep you on track. Chili is an open canvas and super customizable, just substitute ground beef with plant-based grounds in your favorite chili recipe to keep it classic. Or for a pulled pork texture try jackfruit, a great plant alternative with a neutral flavor that is perfect for chili. Top it with diced avocado and your favorite dairy-free cheese and you will make your diehard meat fans cheer.
For the Niners Fans:

Classic San Francisco Sourdough is the perfect vehicle for a slider. Turn your favorite plant-based grounds into mini patties and have a toppings bar for your guests full of Cali-fresh, plant-forward toppings like Green Goddess aioli, kimchi slaw, or plant-bacon.
No Super Bowl party is complete without guacamole, and no doubt it is a no-brainer plant-based offering, but if you want to pump up the volume on this party classic and bring it home to San Francisco, feel free to top it off with Dungeness crab. Hey! Pescatarians love veggies, too.
Don’t forget the punch! Every Superbowl party needs a thirst quencher, but no one wants the post-game headache the next day. Try out a simple mocktail or low ABV beverage to round out your menu with a Blueberry Lemon fizz made from equal parts blueberry juice, lemonade, and seltzer water.
