Independence Brewing Co. & Alamo Drafthouse Release “Hop Brownie” Holiday Ale in Time for Holiday Movie Viewing

Just in time for colder weather and all our favorite holiday movies, Independence Brewing Co. and Alamo Drafthouse announced today the 2019 limited-edition of End Credits — it’s annual holiday beer that has become a seasonal favorite among Alamo Drafthouse patrons. The recipe for End Credits changes with each release and this year’s version is a Hop Brownie Ale. End Credits is available now through December 31 at all 21 Alamo Drafthouse locations in Central Texas.

Independence Brewing’s newest End Credits is about to be your favorite movie buddy. The “Hop Brownie” ale combines a trio of dank and resinous high-alpha hops with a scrumptious blend of chocolate malts, cocoa powder, cocoa nibs, and heaps of fresh hazelnuts. This ale pours a deep chocolate color with an off-white head. Independence’s head brewer, Brannon Radicke, describes the aroma and flavor as “reminiscent of that special ingredient you wish was in every batch of brownies.” A fitting description for a beer emulating a decadent dessert. End Credits has an ABV of 6% and a medium body.

“End Credits gives us the chance to brainstorm something distinctive and creative outside of our typical core portfolio of solid brews each year” he continued. “While the recipe always changes, we strive to continually feature indulgent flavors and treat our loyal followers while toasting the end of the year.”

John Gross and others from the Alamo Drafthouse crew joined Radicke and his team at the Independence brewery in South Austin to help brew the beer. “The delicious taste of chocolate and subtle hints of hazelnut somehow just taste even better when the lights are down in the movie theater,” said Gross. The beer was designed to pair perfectly with popcorn.
