‘South of Ordinary’ Restaurant, Ida Claire, Opens at the Alamo Quarry Market on Monday, October 7th.
Ida Claire, known for its house-made, southern food and beverage classics with a twist, will open its much anticipated San Antonio location in the historic Alamo Quarry Market on October 7, 2019.
Open for weekday breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch, the 6,800-square-foot restaurant opening at 7300 Jones Maltsberger Rd. features an expansive outdoor patio with an inviting garden anchored by two converted airstreams – one for private dining and the other serving as a bar. The restaurant features seating inside for 170 guests, bar seating for 18 and seating for 200 on the patio.
The eclectic ambience features décor acquired during travels throughout the south and sets the tone for Ida Claire. The restaurant ignites the tastes, smells and sights of southern charm and hospitality.

Guests can enjoy shared plates such as the Hummus Board, Fried Green Tomatoes, Ida’s Biscuits and Crawfish Corn Beignets. Popular main courses include the Nashville Hot Fried Chicken, Monte Cristo, Chicken and Waffles, Shrimp and Grits and Braised Beef Short Rib. Lighter options offered are the Ancient Grain and Shrimp Bowl and Frisee and Egg Salad.
Indulge in dessert with sweets such as the Dump Cake topped with Seasonal Berries and Butter Crumb topping and the Hot Fudge Sundae made with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Dulce de Leche Caramel, Chocolate Syrup, Honey Roasted Peanuts and Toasted Marshmallow.
Ida Claire’s bar program offers whimsical and tasty libations for every occasion. The menu features a unique collection of spirits used for classic and reimagined cocktails, a wide variety of wines ranging from hard-to-find whites and reds to craveable rosés, and beers from all corners of Ida’s world.
Signature cocktails include Mamajuana– Plantation 3 Star Rum, Lemonhart 151 Rum, Velvet Falernum and Lime Juice; Fire in the Sky Margarita– Monte Alban Blanco Tequila, Amaro Montenegro and Aperol; Frosé Milkshake– Ava Grace Rosé and Vanilla Soft Serve; Bare Necessities– this cocktail is served in a miniature bathtub adorned with a rubber duck and is made with New Amsterdam Gin, Merlet Poire, Tarragon Simple Syrup, Lemon Juice, Angostura Bitters.
During its grand opening, Ida Claire is donating 50 percent of sales to Junior League of San Antonio, an all-women non-profit that is commited to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.
Ida Claire will be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner Monday – Thursday from 7 a.m. – 11 p.m., Friday from 7 a.m. – 1 a.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. – 1 a.m., Sunday from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. Weekend brunch will be offered 9a.m. to 4p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
