Homegrown Chef Pops Up at Alamo Biscuit Company for One-Night-Only “Sanwachos!”
Be sure to add this fun and yummy restaurant takeover happening on Oct 11th featuring Chef Edward Villarreal and Chef Ceasar Zepeda to your calendar!
WHO: Homegrown Chef is an online culinary series featuring local chefs and restaurants in the hopes of inspiring SA to cook, eat and explore. Recently, Homegrown Chef launched their catering services with Chef Edward Villarreal at the helm.

Chef Edward was born and raised in San Antonio and rose through the culinary ranks over the past 20 years, starting out as a dishwasher and working with some of San Antonio’s top chefs, from Bruce Auden to Jeff White. Chef Edward artfully merges world flavors with indigenous South Texas ingredients to creative uniquely scrumptious dishes with “puro San Anto” flair!
WHAT: Homegrown Chef’s Edward Villarreal will be taking over restaurant, Alamo Biscuit Company (ABC), for one-night-only with a menu of gourmet tortas and burgers, an event cheekily titled, Sanwachos, a local slang word for sandwiches.

ABC’s chef and owner, Ceasar Zepeda, has been blazing the culinary trail in San Antonio with his restaurant takeovers, first with Sangria on the Berg and now with ABC, showcasing some of the most notable and rising talent in the city.
The event will also be filmed for an episode of Homegrown Chef, highlighting the thrilling behind-the-scenes action and talents of Chef Zepeda, along with host, Chef Edward. The duo will be offering a collaborative menu item that evening, a monster vegetarian mushroom torta (see full menu below). Guests are encouraged to make reservations, but drop-ins are always welcome.
“I’ve lived here my entire life, and I just want to bring our Alamo City’s flavors back to the forefront. I’m excited to work with Chef Ceasar and cook in the kitchen at ABC, serving up good old-fashioned San Antonio favorites, such as Cubanos, tortas and incredible ‘raza’ burgers. I’m like Frost Bank, I’m from here,” says Chef Edward.
