Students Return to Savor at the Culinary Institute of America

Back to school season is upon us, and Savor, the student-run restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America’s Texas campus, is no exception. Students are returning after their summer intersession for an official reopening on August 22, with a soft opening on August 21. The students at the CIA spend seven weeks gaining hands-on experience in the kitchen followed by another seven weeks serving in the dining room, and the current class is returning to once again share their delicious food and refreshing cocktails with the people of San Antonio.

In addition to bringing back delicious classics like Irish Pointe Oysters and Steak Tartare, Savor will resume offering their popular happy hour on Tuesdays from 5:30 – 8 p.m. The happy hour includes $5 cocktails and $1 off delicious bites including the orange chili wings and pommes frites. Guests can also look forward to a few fall-themed menu additions this October.

The Menu

Inspired by global cuisines and rooted in our culinary arts curriculum, our carefully curated menu puts an innovated twist on classic dishes. Join us in our intimate dining room and build your own three- or four-course meal, or spend time in our lounge area and order constantly changing tastes from the kitchen, classic cocktails, curated wines, or local craft beers.

Located on the campus of The Culinary Institute of America, San Antonio, and nestled in the Pearl, Savor restaurant highlights the talents of our CIA students under the supervision of the college’s world class faculty. Experience a meal inspired by ingredients and techniques from around the world.

For seven weeks, the students gain hands-on experience working in Savor’s professional kitchen, followed by seven additional weeks serving in the dining room, where they learn both contemporary and formal service techniques. This way, CIA students receive professional restaurant experience while providing a seamless dining experience for our guests.
