San Antonio’s downtown historic theatres, the Majestic Theatre and Charline McCombs Empire Theatre, welcome live music, comedic performances, children’s engagements, Camp Broadway presented by the Las Casas Foundation and more this August. In addition, patrons can enjoy an Ambassador Alcove and take part in newly added Majestic Theatre Happy Hour Tour dates.
The Majestic Theatre now proudly offers Ambassador Alcoves, a unique opportunity providing an elevated theatre experience with premium amenities. Situated on the mezzanine level, the Ambassador Alcoves are exclusive lounges offering a private retreat in the middle of it all. Each Alcove experience ($150) accommodates up to six guests and includes a complimentary bottle of Champagne, truffles by Chocolazzo, Valet Parking and access to purchase Pre-Order menu offerings and small bites from Range, the San Antonio steakhouse concept by Chef Jason Dady. Camp Broadway – July 29 to August 2
Presented by Las Casas Foundation, Camp Broadway’s Original Summer Program enables theater-loving kids, ages 10-17, to develop their confidence, character and presentation skills through ensemble performance. Staff members will immerse the children and teens in an authentic Broadway rehearsal process that allows all campers to be successful regardless of experience level. Inspired by Broadway’s cherished works and steeped in its grand traditions, Camp Broadway is designed to build confidence, inspire creative expression, and instill well-being in both aspiring artists and future audiences. Enrollment is currently open.
Happy Hour Tours: August 12 and August 26 at 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
Guests can spend an evening going behind the scenes at the historic Majestic Theatre learning about the beautiful theatre’s rich history, architecture and character while indulging in a complementary “Crown Jewel “cocktail in celebration of the theatre’s 90th anniversary. A selection of beer and wine will be available for purchase at the bar. A portion of ticket proceeds support Las Casas Foundation’s Performing Arts Scholarship Program. Tickets are $25.

Wiz Khalifa: The Decent Exposure Tour – Sunday, August 4
Multi-platinum selling, Grammy and Golden Globe nominated artist, Wiz Khalifa, will grace the stage of the Majestic Theatre to perform some of his biggest hits. The “Black and Yellow” rapper is known for hits like “We Dem Boyz,” “No Sleep,” and “See You Again.” Some of Wiz Khalifa’s recent accolades include winning two Billboard Music Awards in the categories “Top Hot 100 Song” and “Top Rap Song,” earning three Grammy Award nominations in the categories “Song of the Year,” “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” and “Best Song Written for Visual Media,” and a Golden Globe nomination in the category “Best Original Song – Motion Picture.”

George Lopez: The Wall World Tour – Friday, August 9 and Saturday, August 10
Actor and comedian, George Lopez, returns to the Alamo City for a four-show run at the Majestic Theatre as part of the Wall World Tour. Lopez has had a diverse career in the entertainment industry as a stand-up comic, actor, and talk show host. He is currently on theThe Comedy Get Down tour with Eddie Griffin, D.L. Hughley, and Cedric the Entertainer and has recently debuted a BET scripted comedy show based on the tour. Showtimes for the Wall World Tour will begin at 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. each night. The show is part of the Budlight Concert Series at the Majestic Theatre.

The Magik Theatre Presents: The Very Hungry Caterpillar – Friday, August 9 to Saturday, August 17
The Charline McCombs Empire Theatre will host the popular children’s book turned stage production for an 11-show run. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, written by author/illustrator Eric Carle, has sold more than 43 million copies around the world. The stage production features the book’s beloved characters in puppet form in addition to characters from Carle’s other books like Brown Bear, Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks and The Very Lonely Firefly.

An Evening with Lyle Lovett and his Large Band – Monday, August 19
The native-Texan musician, composer and actor, Lyle Lovett, joins the Majestic for an evening of soulful music as part of the Majestic Theatre’s Budlight Concert Series. Lovett uses elements of gospel, country, jazz, swing and folk music combined with his talent for storytelling to create a concert experience that goes beyond a good beat and catchy melody.

The B-52s: 40th Anniversary Tour with Special Guests OMD and Berlin – Wednesday, August 21
In 2018 rock group, the B-52s, began celebrating 40 years together with an epic tour. Currently on its 10-country tour, the band known for its upbeat music and colorful attire shows no signs of slowing down. The B-52s are joined in concert by English electronic band, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark (OMD), and American pop group, Berlin. This show is part of the Budlight Concert Series at the Majestic Theatre.

1964 The Tribute – Saturday, August 24
Beatles fans, rejoice! Hailed by critics and fans alike as the most authentic and endearing Beatles tribute in the world, 1964 The Tribute returns to the Majestic Theatre on August 24. 1964 is a selection on some of the Beatles most beloved tunes prior to the band’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band era.

Jay Leno – Thursday, September 12
Shortly following the Majestic’s August programming, acclaimed comedian, late night TV show host, and best-selling children’s book author, Jay Leno will make an appearance at the Majestic Theatre for one night only. The Emmy award-winning personality will start his only show in San Antonio at 7:30 p.m. on September 12.
