‘South of Ordinary’ Restaurant, Ida Claire Has Plans to Open New Space in Historic Alamo Quarry Market

 Ida Claire, known for its house-made, southern food and beverage classics with a twist, will expand from its Dallas location with a new restaurant opening fall 2019 in San Antonio, TX. Located in the Alamo Quarry Market at 7300 Jones Maltsberger Rd., the 6,800-square-foot space will include an expansive outdoor patio with an inviting garden. 

Ida Claire ignites the tastes, smells and sights of Southern charm and hospitality. 

“We’ve always thought San Antonio would be a great fit for Ida Claire and the historic location, unique character and charm of the Alamo Quarry Market is perfect,” said Steve Shlemon, CEO Whiskey Cake Holdings. “Our laid-back style and fun twist on southern favorites will be a nice addition to an already growing and vibrant restaurant scene. Weekend brunch is big part of the Ida Claire experience, and we are excited to bring Ida Claire to San Antonio.”

The restaurant will feature seating inside for 170 guests and a bar with seating for 18. Ida Claire’s southern hospitality continues on the patio (seating for 200) with a beautiful rose garden and two converted airstreams; one for private dining and the other will serve as a bar.

The eclectic ambiance from décor acquired during travels throughout the south sets the tone for Ida Claire, inviting guests to enjoy menu mainstays such as homemade biscuits, muffulettas, po’ boys, shrimp and grits or Nashville hot chicken. Bountiful shared plate options include fried green tomatoes, crawfish corn beignet and more. Sweet treats such as the signature Vice Cake (stout cake with tobacco simple syrup, coffee buttercream, smoked-candied bacon and ganache) or the Ida’s Seasonal Pie round out the dessert menu.

Ida Claire’s bar program offers whimsical and tasty libations for every occasion. The menu features a unique collection of spirits used for classic and reimagined cocktails, a wide variety of wines ranging from hard-to-find whites and reds to craveable rosés, and beers from all corners of Ida’s world.

The restaurant is part of Front Burner Restaurants, which also owns Whiskey Cake, Haywire, Legacy Hall, Mexican Sugar, Sixty Vines, The Keeper and The Ranch at Las Colinas.

Ida Claire will be open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Weekend brunch will be offered 9am to 4pm Saturday and Sunday.
