Every Kid’s Meal Includes Seed Planting Kits on Earth Day at Earth Burger
It’s 5 p.m., and you’re in between shuttling kids from school to practice to home when you realize there’s nothing for dinner. That’s when many parents default to the convenience of the closest drive-thru. But what if there was a drive-thru with the same convenience and healthier options that are good for both your family and your planet? Enter Earth Burger!
On April 22, Earth Day, Earth Burger is thinking outside the box so to speak, by including a packet of green bean seeds from Uprooted Gardens in every kid’s meal, along with Earth Day fun facts and instructions for planting in the included water, juice, or milk box.
“It’s never too early to make kids understand the importance of quality ingredients and a plant-based diet and what better day than Earth Day when kiddos are coming home from school with the topic fresh on their mind?,” says celebrity chef and Earth Burger founder Mike Behrend. As a father of two young vegetarians, Behrend is a firm believer that everyone can do something to promote a greener way of life.
“What better day than Earth Day to start planting those seeds of sustainability in our kids,” he asks.
More than just a name, Earth Burger is a restaurant that puts its money where its mouth (and yours) is. Sure the menu is filled with mouthwatering 100% plant-based foods from burgers to bowls, but the commitment to Mother Earth doesn’t stop there. With a mission to “Be the difference in every way possible,” Earth Burger uses all compostable disposables, supports a variety of charitable organizations, sources from like-minded purveyors and is on track to become a zero-waste company by the end of 2019.
“We want to serve more than delicious, healthier food options, we want to serve a lifestyle and make an impact in the communities we serve,” says Behrend.

Earth Burger was established in 2014 by the vegetarian pioneers of San Antonio, Texas who created Green Vegetarian Cuisine and Bok Choy. Their “big boom” idea was for Earth Burger to be one of the nation’s first plant-based drive-thrus offering a healthy, low calorie take on fast food for those on the go. Earth Burger’s goal is to provide people with great healthy choices at a great value, while at the same time doing something better for the planet. Earth Burger offers two locations in San Antonio (Park North & Nacogdoches) with a location in San Marcos and The Mall of America in Minnesota. Visit eatearthburger.com for more information.
