Chef Jeff White brings 32 years of kitchen experience honed in the early years of Biga, L’Etoile, and Ascenar. After five years as executive chef at Boiler House, Jeff left Boiler House to helm Tucker’s Kozy Korner alongside his wife, Jenn, whose 20 years in the hospitality industry includes leadership positions in hotel and restaurant management and in hospitality marketing. Jenn also owns and operates Brindles Awesome Ice Cream. This is the first restaurant the couple has built from the ground up. Kent Russell, formerly of Maverick and Outlaw Kitchens, is the able sous chef.
The 1910 building is located in the historic Government Hill neighborhood, blocks from the Pearl. It has been completely renovated for Eastside Kitchenette, and offers off-street parking. Patio seating for 30-40 guests overlooks the downtown skyline; inside seating can accommodate 80.
Family friendly, dog friendly on the patio, and just plain friendly everywhere, the casual restaurant/bar is open seven days a week for lunch, brunch, dinner and late-night eats. Blue Plate Specials and daily desserts add an exclamation point to the large menu.
Look for creative spins on Southern regional classics, like Bacon & Pimento Cheese Hushpuppies with white BBQ sauce, Charred Octopus with Apple Pico de Gallo, BBQ Meatloaf, Chicken and Brioche Dumplings, Blue Crab Stuffed Catfish, Buttermilk Country-fried Duck Confit, Double Burgers and huge entrée salads.
Saturday and Sunday’s brunch menu is a wake-up call for serious brunch lovers. There’s everything from straightforward egg platters and Avocado Toast to Pork Belly Hangover Hash, Fried Green Tomato & Crab Benny, Apple Cider French Toast, and Fried Chicken with Pumpkin Waffles.
All that deeply comforting American roots food is supported by a solid full-service bar with a selection of top brands, plus several signature bourbon-centric cocktails, and an array of beer and wine. Happy Hour, 4-7 p.m. daily, features drink and snack specials.
