Celebrate President’s Day with George Washington’s Favorite: Whiskey Cake
There is only one way to celebrate President’s Day this year! With Whiskey Cake’s namesake and signature dessert, Whiskey Cake. Why you may ask…? Well, because George Washington, the first president of the United States had quite the sweet tooth for Whiskey Cake. In fact, it was one of his favorite foods. According to “George’s dear wife Martha made a whiskey cake that he reportedly loved, and it’s still popular today.” The founding father also owned a whiskey distillery at Mount Vernon that was considered one of the largest whiskey distilleries in the United States in the 1700’s. At peak production the facility produced 11,000 gallons of whiskey. Perhaps Martha even used George’s whiskey for the recipe. Indulge in a slice of Whiskey Cake for $8 and cheers with a signature whiskey cocktail at Whiskey Cake this President’s Day!
At Whiskey Cake you can both eat and drink your whiskey. Their signature made from scratch dessert is the Whiskey Cake, a toffee cake drizzled in bourbon anglaise, then topped with spiced pecans and freshly whipped cream. Of course you should enjoy it with a whiskey drink. With their awesome selection of whiskey, choosing one may just be your hardest decision of the day!
