Featuring a different winery each month, Peggy’s wine dinner series offers the opportunity to explore different flavors while enjoying the hospitality and Southern favorites of Peggy’s on the Green. Peggy’s November wine dinner features the Wagner Family of Wine, a perfect match for holidays, when family and friends gather to enjoy flavors together. Most known for its Caymus brand, Wagner’s family of wines includes Emmolo and Mer Soleil, which Peggy’s will feature alongside Caymus during this special evening. The Wagner family has established itself as one of the best in Napa Valley, with wines are that are elegant and well-rounded. With a super deep fruit concentration and an easy drinking approachability factor, the wines are a perfect match for the flavors offered by Peggy’s, and the dinner will feature courses specially paired to bring out the flavor profile of the Wagner wines.
If you adhere to “Wine is fine, but liquor is quicker,” Peggy’s December whiskey dinner may not be for you. After all, the fantastic whiskeys crafted by Woodford Reserve should be savored slowly, especially when those whiskeys are paired with a sumptuous dinner at Peggy’s.
The final dinner of Peggy’s 2018 series spotlights the world’s leading super premium bourbons of Woodford Reserve. Woodford Reserve Distillery, tucked in the heart of thoroughbred country in Versailles, Kentucky, represents craftsmanship with a balance of historic heritage and modern practices. All bourbon is created using the same five sources of flavor, but Woodford Reserve does something special with all five: its whiskeys are crafted through an artisanal process that creates bourbon rich in complexity with a distinct taste and crisp, clean finish.
Sharing more about Woodford Reserve and its complex flavors, Elizabeth McCall, Assistant Master Distiller and Certified Specialist of Spirits, will discuss the dinner pairings and provide insight into the distilling process. McCall works on innovation and the development of new products within Woodford Reserve and helped develop tasting notes for Woodford’s Distillery Series expressions Sweet Mash Redux and Double Double Oaked. In her role as Master Taster, she worked with Peggy’s on the Green and sister restaurant, Bohanan’s Prime Steaks and Seafood, to develop a customized bourbon offered at both restaurants.
Tradition, hospitality and simple foods made exquisite are the hallmarks of Peggy’s on the Green. Overlooking the serene banks of Cibolo Creek just off the square in Boerne, Peggy’s features a breezy wraparound porch and a patio with views of Cibolo Creek. That patio also features a roaring fireplace perfect for fall and winter evenings in the Hill Country.
