The basement bar will be accessible by a staircase on the outside of Prince Solms Inn, in the vicinity of Muck & Fuss, an upcoming craft beer and burger restaurant run by the Muckenfuss group . These buildings, owned by Terry and Celina Muckenfuss, have been undergoing construction for a little over a year to achieve their concept of a haven for customers to eat, drink and stay in New Braunfels.
Sidecar has kept the 1920’s ambience in mind while coming up with the structure of the bar. Prince Solms Inn, the home of sidecar, has been operating since 1898 and is a staple historic building that has housed decades of visitors. One important era that Prince Solms Inn experienced was the prohibition era which has inspired Sidecar. During this era, alcohol was banned, which gave bar owners the opportunity to become secretive with their sales. Many speakeasy bars popped up, in which exclusivity was key and entrance was limited to invite only. Legitimate speakeasy bars during the prohibition era were located conspicuously with no signs and hidden entrances. While Sidecar will employ some of these characteristics, it will also challenge some components making it a unique easy to access hidden-bar.
Customers will be provided with an assortment of cocktails, bottled beer, draft beers, wine by the glass, bottle and on tap. The owners of Sidecar will provide Napa wine on tap to provide the utmost quality. Amongst some of their novelties, there will also be fresh made syrups as well as ice sculpture-grade glass that has been supplied locally from San Antonio.
Sidecar will offer more than a building to drink in, it will provide music as well as history. Expect fresh quality drinks as well as artists such as Brett Klein to frequent the bar.
The operating hours for Sidecar will be Tuesday thru Friday from 4pm until midnight and Saturday from 4pm until 1am.
