**Full Disclosure: I received dinner in exchange for my review, but not to worry, all opinions are 100% mine.
In case you missed it, Restaurant Week has made it’s way to the outskirts of San Antonio. The Gruene Door in New Braunfels is one of the handful of eateries welcoming food enthusiasts outside the city to a delightful menu that donates a portion of its sales to one of the leading food-focused nonprofits in the San Antonio area, providing funds for scholarship programs aimed at students pursuing a career in the hospitality or culinary industry.
The Gruene Door Restaurant is located in beautiful Gruene Lake Village in New Braunfels, Texas. They are Gruene’s only casual, fine dining restaurant combining the best in food, service, and atmosphere. Every menu item is prepared 100% in house by our chefs.
Take a piece of Gruene home with you!
Open for lunch and dinner, they are the perfect destination for a romantic dinner, birthday celebration, private party, lunch with friends, or just a casual night out.
What a great location for a restaurant. Situated just outside the historic town of Gruene in a quaint shopping area, it gives you a place to roam about before or after your meal. I was interested in checking out the retail shops, my husband wanted to check out the Cigar shop. Something for almost everyone here.
The restaurant is a very nicely decorated fine dining establishment. The staff was very welcoming and friendly and let us come in out of the heat of the Texas sun, even through they weren’t officially open yet. They have a spacious full bar that offers craft cocktails and Texas craft beers. This upscale, casual eclectic American restaurant has ample seating including a beautiful patio. The Gruene Door’s chef inspired scratch kitchen also boasts they carry 60 fine wines from which to choose.
Their menu for restaurant week is for a 3-course dinner available Wednesday-Saturday 5pm-close.
The menu includes:
- Choice of Garden House Salad or Harvest Squash Soup
- Blackened Mahi Mahi with Cilantro Citrus Butter
- Orange Basil Sorbet
The Blackened Mahi Mahi was a nice size portion of fish seasoned and grilled to perfection. The fish was served atop fingerling potatoes and drizzled in a Cilantro Citrus Butter sauce. It was a very nice entree.
The Orange Basil Sorbet was topped with a strawberry for a beautiful presentation. It was a wonderful blend of flavors and a very light ending to the meal.
This restaurant week 3-course meal is only $35 per person, but you need to get over there soon as restaurant week ends Aug 25, 2018.
The Gruene Door is consistently rated as one of the best restaurants in the San Antonio/Austin area, yet another reason to get over there soon!
