Elevating the Community with Flavor, Hospitality and Service at Bohanan’s and Peggy’s on the Green
Bohanan’s Prime Steaks and Seafood and Peggy’s on the Green are elevating the community in everything they do. Their flavor, hospitality and service are always flowing through the San Antonio community and raising the bar in our beautiful city.
Part of the fabric of San Antonio for 16 years, Bohanan’s Prime Steaks and Seafood pairs incomparable hospitality, unerring attention to detail and fantastic flavor to create an extraordinary dining experience in the heart of the city. Bohanan’s unique recipe of atmosphere, service, unforgettable food and handcrafted cocktails creates a sophisticated environment that elevates every occasion.
Sister restaurant, Peggy’s on the Green, a Chef Mark Bohanan restaurant, shares Bohanan’s Prime Steaks and Seafood’s commitment to hospitality, service and flavor. Peggy’s, named after Mark Bohanan’s mother, Peggy, is a restaurant celebrating tradition, hospitality and simple foods made exquisite, tucked into a relaxed setting inside Ye Kendall Inn on the banks of Cibolo Creek in Boerne, Texas.
Through the leadership of chef-owner Mark Bohanan, the restaurants believe in elevating their communities as well, actively supporting a variety of philanthropic efforts and championing organizations that help the San Antonio and Boerne areas maintain the characteristics that people cherish, like the McNay Art Museum, which contributes to San Antonio’s vibrant, colorful—and cultural—atmosphere.
“Every day we are trying and pushing to be the best,” explains Mark Bohanan, chef-owner of Bohanan’s Prime Steaks and Seafood and Peggy’s on the Green. “Our city deserves it. Organizations like the McNay are what make San Antonio so unique. It’s a true treasure that draws people in and helps give San Antonio the culture and color we all love.”
Bohanan’s and Peggy’s support of the McNay Art Museum is just one way the restaurants’ active interest in their guests flows beyond its doors to create a larger sense of community. Bohanan’s champions downtown San Antonio through both business and philanthropic efforts, routinely working with organizations like the McNay, as well as the San Antonio Parks Foundation, the March of Dimes, Say Sí, Las Casas Foundation and more to support a wide array of initiatives and programs that help make San Antonio better every day.

“Supporting the community and being active in local efforts is part of who we are,” continued Bohanan. “We believe in giving back to help our community thrive. It goes back to my small-town roots: you help neighbors. It’s part of what spurred me to found the San Antonio Cocktail Conference and Houston Street Charities, the nonprofit that produces the conference each year.”
Profits from the Cocktail Conference and Houston Street Charities benefit children’s charities. In Boerne, Peggy’s is an active partner with the Boerne Education Foundation, donating funds to provide opportunities for excellence in education, promote innovation in teaching and partner with the community to enhance the quality of education. Peggy Bohanan was a teacher, so the importance of education is a lesson she instilled in Mark from an early age.
Some might wonder how a restaurant’s commitment to community service gives its culinary experience an edge, but when you do everything with heart, it shows. Bohanan’s and Peggy’s dedication to both guests and community service, paired with an authentic concern for the community and its genuine desire to give back by providing only the best to the community and to its guests, combine to create the not-so-secret recipe behind the restaurants’ success. And that success continues to make Bohanan’s and Peggy’s the best culinary experiences to be enjoyed in both San Antonio and Boerne.
