LocalSprout Opens Its Doors for Weekly Farmer’s Market

LocalSprout Mid-Week Market Launches April 25

LocalSprout, the members of its Food Hub, and The Chop Shop Produce are opening a weekly indoor farmers market on Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The Food Hub features artisan food manufacturers like Pulp Coffee Roaster, Peaceful Pork, Madges Food Company, JD’s Chili, Southern Grit Flavor, Deep River Specialty Foods, Texas Black Gold Garlic, RiceRise, Swine House, and the Box Street Social. These vendors, as well as many other local producers like Holdman Honey, Hearts and Hands baked goods, and The Artful Olive will have their products available weekly at the market.

In addition to plentiful produce and foodstuffs at vendor booths, each week will include a class on gourmet food production or sustainable agriculture from local experts. Classes will include Coffee Roasting 101, Creating Kimchi, Intro to Jellies and Jams, Optimal Meat Smoking, Hydroponic Gardening, Butchering Free-Range Cattle, Beginner Beekeeping, Raising Hogs, and other educational opportunities for cooks and eaters who want to understand more about their food system and their place in it. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the garden and hydroponic farm at LocalSprout. Each week a hot food vendor will be featured making meals to-go for dinner, from barbecue to locally grown salads which will be prepared in front of all customers.
