Celebrating Never Ends with Festive Cocktails from this Family-Owned Distillery

So the celebrating never ends as the next two months are full of celebrations – large and small – and William Grant & Sons has the perfect cocktail for each one.

National Irish Coffee Day – January 25

The Irish Coffee – created in 1942 in the Foynes Airport in Ireland, Irish whiskey made its way to the states in 1952 when the Buena Vista café started serving it – this staple kept Irish whiskey afloat in the 1950s. www.tullamoredew.com

Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Coffee

In a 6 oz glass
1 part Tullamore D.E.W. Original

2 parts Strong Brewed Coffee (Tim’s Pick: any premium dark roast)

2 Sugar Cubes (Tim’s Pick: Demerara Sugar)

In an 8 oz glass

1 part Tullamore D.E.W. Original

2 1/2  parts Strong Brewed Coffee

2 Sugar Cubes
Lightly whipped heavy cream
Cinnamon or nutmeg


Tullamore D.E.W. Brand Ambassador Tim Herlihy’s Foolproof Method:

-Pre-heat a clear-stemmed glass with very hot water.

-Add the sugar and brewed coffee and stir well.

-Once the sugar has melted, stir in the Tullamore D.E.W. Irish Whiskey.

-Gently whip the heavy cream by shaking it in a protein shaker with a blender ball – you want a still somewhat loose, not stiff consistency.

-Pour the cream over the back of a hot teaspoon to top the drink (and prevent the cream from penetrating the top of the drink.

-Finally, garnish with grated nutmeg or cinnamon for a spicy finish.

IRISH WHISKEY FUN FACT: Tim Herlihy holds the world record for creating the world’s largest Irish Coffee. It was set last year and comprised of five opounds of sugar, 28 gallons of cream, 150 gallons of coffee, and 43 gallons of Tullamore D.E.W. whiskey. The custom-made glass was 6 ½ feet.

1 ½ parts Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum

1 ½ parts Butterscotch Schnapps

3 parts Hot Chocolate

Dash of Orange bitters

Garnish: whipped cream and a cinnamon stick or candy cane

Add equal parts liquor to hot chocolate, top with whipped cream, shaved chocolate, and garnish with a cinnamon stick or candy cane

¾ part Agave Nectar

1 part Fresh Lime Juice

Pour all ingredients into a Boston shaker, shake and strain over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.
