La Familia comes together on the Historic Market Square

La Familia Cortez Gift Shop and Cruz Ortiz Pop-Up Shop Opens in Historic Market Square

Mi Tierra, Cruz Ortiz and Fiesta: three iconic names that are synonymous with San Antonio. Beginning Friday, April 21, all of these things will collide at La Familia Cortez’s gift shop in Historic Market Square. The gift shop will be open from 12 pm to 9pm every day in the shared space of SA Live’s studio (107 S. Concho Street) in the heart of El Mercado.

The gift shop will open Friday, April 21, just in time for Fiesta goers to shop their way through Market Square. Renowned local artist Cruz Ortiz will be hosting a pop-up shop in the space during Fiesta and will sell a custom design for La Familia Cortez on a limited edition screen printed shirt and poster, along with other items from SNAKE HAWK PRESS. Cruz Ortiz uses art to embrace issues relating to his experience growing up in the bi-cultural landscape of South Texas. SNAKE HAWK PRESS is a competitive creative factory founded by Ortiz, that concentrates on the growing Latino and Millennial market.

In addition to the Cruz Ortiz pop-up shop, La Familia Cortez’s gift shop offers visitors to take a piece of the restaurants home or prep for their own Fiesta with piñatas and flower crowns. The gift shop will include fiesta t-shirts, medals, sashes, flower crowns, piñatas and of course all of your favorite La Familia Cortez Restaurants items.
