San Antonio Topgolf Regional Tour Champions Announced

San Antonio Topgolf Regional Tournament took place last Sunday, August 28th. There were 32- two man teams competing for the gold and a chance to move on to the National Championship in Las Vegas in hopes of winning the $50,000 grand prize purse.

The San Antonio Topgolf tournament winners were Paul “Texas” Harper and KC Lim. This team won both the Stroke Play and 1st place Gold medals. They also won bragging rights at San Antonio Topgolf as well. Second place silver medalists are Ryan O’Rear & Will Dusenbury.

The Topgolf Tour is the first golf tournament series where men and women compete for the same prize and play the same format. Throughout The Topgolf Tour, media partners PGA TOUR and LPGA will engage participants and spectators with interactive content on their digital channels as well as on tour.topgolf.com.

Regional tournaments will take place across 16 U.S. cities from Aug. 7 to Nov. 6. Each tournament is open to 68 teams of two players (male, female or mixed-gender teams), with spots filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Players will hit microchipped golf balls at targets with varying point values on a 215-yard outfield.

After signing in, receiving lots of cool swag and having a huge Topgolf breakfast, players got to do some practicing and limbering up before the games began at 9:00AM.

David Ogrin, Topgolf’s Director of Instruction and the commentator for the days event, gave the count down for the start of the game. David is also a the winner of the La Cantera Texas Open, 1996.

Players followed the following game play:

Regional Tournament and Tour Championship:

Round 1- Team Stroke Play
All Teams to play three (3) different pre-determined games (for the San Antonio competition today they played the following games).

  • Topgolf
  • TopScore
  • Top Pressure – 30 balls (30 shots)

Eight (8) Teams with the highest Cumulative Team scores from these three (3) games in Round 1 will move on to the next Round.

Round 2 – Quarterfinals for the 8 winning Teams from Round 1 participate Single game, single elimination match
Round 3 – Semifinals – (4 winning Teams from Round 2 participate) Single game, single elimination match
Round 4 – Final Round (2 winning Teams from Round 3 participate) Single game, single elimination match. Scores from this round are not cumulative with other Rounds
Team with the highest score from this Final Round is the winning Team (scores from this Round are not cumulative with scores from other Rounds)
