STREET FAMILY CAUSES SEISMIC SHIFT IN DALLAS RESTAURANT INDUSTRY WITH OPENING OF NEW CONCEPT
Established Dallas Restaurant Family to Open Street’s Fine Chicken May 2016
In 1975, a chicken fried steak surge occurred on Cedar Springs Road when the esteemed Street family introduced mouthwatering chicken fried steak to Texans with the first Black-eyed Pea restaurant. Next month, another fried chicken rush will erupt as Gene, Marco, Mariel, Dace and Tony Street will open Street’s Fine Chicken, housed in the same building as the flagship Black-eyed Pea.
The elevated southern chicken house menu will feature a variety of traditional dishes, each prepared with French flair by executive chef and partner Tony Street. Street’s Fine Chicken will utilize locally-sourced ingredients, never frozen, and Texas chickens with no hormones or stimulants.
“A southern chicken concept in Dallas has been a vision in my family for as long as I can remember,” said Marco Street, owner of Street’s Fine Chicken. “Together as a family, we’ve developed a concept focused on serving the best locally-sourced chicken in many delicious ways. It’s an honor to continue our family legacy in the same spot that my Dad got his start.”
Highlights of the comfort food menu will include Chicken Lollipops, smoked n’ fried chicken drumsticks rolled in a Grand Marnier horseradish molasses; Sin Killin’ Thigh Sandwich, a flame-grilled, marinated boneless chicken thigh with Havarti, escabeche red onions, roasted tomato, arugula and Peri Peri pepper aioli on a ciabatta bun; Roasted & Toasted Chicken, Fried Chicken, brined and French Fried in herbs from various French Provinces; and of course, Chicken Fried Steak, only griddled instead of fried.
Guests are encouraged not to fly the coop before washing down all the chicken goodness with one of several craft cocktails at the restaurant. The menu will be made up of unique twists on cocktail classics with touches that pack a punch, like spicy honey and chili syrups. Guests will also enjoy a boutique wine list and Dallas sourced craft beer on tap.
A local arts advocate, Marco’s artistic passion will be reflected throughout the restaurant with a large mural painted by students of Booker T. Washington High School, his alma mater.
