The most exciting thing about Irish whiskey is its diversity of flavors and the selection of whiskeys featured during the tasting truly explores that diversity, while also providing some of the best whiskey that Ireland has to offer. From a 16-year-old Knappogue Castle Twin Wood that is one of only 1,900 bottles made, to a Greenore Single Grain Irish Whiskey distilled in casks hand-picked by the master distiller himself, guests will be able to enjoy a terrific selection of unique Irish whiskeys, alongside Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa Executive Chef David Barrett’s suggested Irish food pairings, including artisanal cheeses, meats, breads and a Sheppard’s Pie Puff.

Perfect for those who love to taste and talk about all things whiskey, the event features the opportunity to enjoy Irish whiskey samples in the company of Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa’s Whiskey Tasting Ambassador who will be available to answer any questions attendees may have about any of the whiskey selections. In addition to the Knappoge and Greenore offerings, the tasting also features:

  • A selection from 2 Gingers, started by Irishman Kieran Folliard who had a passion, a great idea and an inspiration. The result? A smooth, malty and slightly sweet, blended Irish whiskey named after his mother and aunt, the two fiery-redheads whose likenesses are on the bottle. The whiskey is a smooth, stand-out spirit when consumed neat or on the rocks, and is a mixable Irish whiskey that stands up in a cocktail.
  • Kilbeggan Whiskey Distilling Co., which is one of the oldest working distilleries in Ireland as well as one of the most decorated. Using the oldest working still in Ireland, the blended Irish Whiskey Kilbeggan is made in limited quantities, twice distilled and aged four years to reveal its distinct, smooth and approachable taste.
  • Knappogue Castle 12 Year Old is a first time release of its 12-year-old Single Malt Irish Whiskey. As the original vintage dated whiskey, Knappogue is undertaking this change to bring greater clarity to the age of the product.
  • Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey, which has been called the “World’s Best Irish Single Malt”, offers a smooth sweet malt taste and complex peat flavors. Connemara is the most decorated Irish whiskey with a huge collection of Gold Medals and has been honored as the “Worlds Best Irish Single Malt”.

Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa’s Authentic Irish Whiskey Tasting is open to the general public, ages 21 and older. Cost is $17 per person. Reservations are not required. For more information, visit
