Sugarlands Distilling Company Expands Westward, takes its Moonshine to Texas

Award-winning moonshine from Sugarlands Distilling Company will soon be available for purchase at bars and liquor stores in the Lone Star State.

Moonshine fans in Texas will be able to enjoy five varieties of Sugarlands Shine—including Jim Tom Hedrick’s Unaged Rye—winner of a gold medal at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

“We are excited to introduce our award-winning moonshine to the people of Texas; we are sure they are going to love it.” said expansion director Roy Kibling. “Entering the Texas market is important to us because it is the furthest west we have offered our shine, and it signals big things to come.”

Sugarlands Distilling Co. currently offers 12 varieties of moonshine crafted in the Great Smoky Mountains. The company has collaborated with celebrity moonshiners Jim Tom Hedrick, Mark Rogers, and Steven Ray Tickle to create the Legends Series line of moonshine offerings. Recently, Mark Ramsey and Digger Manes—also of Moonshiners fame—became the company’s newest ‘Legends.’

In December, Sugarlands Distilling Co. released Mark and Digger’s Rye Apple, an 80 proof, apple infused rye moonshine that has become an instant favorite among visitors to their downtown Gatlinburg distillery.

 

Jars of Sugarlands Shine are expected to arrive in stores, bars, and restaurants by the third week of February 2016. Moonshine fans can ensure Sugarlands Shine is on shelves near them by making a request at www.findmoonshine.com.

Sugarlands Shine has won 20 awards internationally since distillation began in 2014. Sugarlands Distilling Company now distributes in the following states: AL, CT, FL, IL, IN, KY, MD, MI, MN, MS, NY, NC, SC, TN, VA, WV, and TX.

12 oz. Mark Rogers’ American Peach Sugarlands Shine.
750 ml Sparkling Wine or Champagne
6 oz. White Grape Juice
8 oz. Frozen Blueberries
10 oz. Strawberries
3 Peaches, chopped
Combine in large pitcher. Refrigerate 4-8 hours before serving. Serve the sangria over ice in wineglasses.
