2016 Kia Sedona SX-L – Not My Grandparents Minivan

Minivan That Steers Like a Sedan, Acts Like an SUV & Has All the Pizzazz of a Luxury Vehicle

If you are looking for a car that can hold up to eight people (three row seating), has tons of cargo space for hauling just about anything, is fun to drive, has all the bells and whistles of a pricier car, this just might be the vehicle for you.

The Sedona’s V-6, 5-speed transmission has a lot of bump for highway driving so passing cars was no problem. And I forgot I was driving a minivan when it came to maneuverability. It handled beautifully, just like a sedan. It was nice to have all the warning signals for lane departure, forward collision warning and back up warning until I got used to the size of the minivan and the surround view monitor cameras that Kia is installing on their vehicles is a welcome feature.

The interior of the 2016 Kia Sedona was plush with the two tone leather and those large comfy seats that my husband couldn’t stop raving about. Both front and 2nd row seats were first class lounge seating and the middle seat in the 2nd row could be taken out to give passengers extra room.

This was a great car to have during the holidays since I needed to get the family to a lunch gathering. Everyone fit comfortably and the 2nd row riders were kept warm on this blistery day with those heated seats. Front seats are not just heated but also ventilated which I actually used the day before. Texas weather! And with a car filled with passengers I really appreciated the blind spot detection as well as the front and rear parking assist.

Heated steering wheel and seats.

Another feature I thought was nifty for me and anyone who has their hands full is the hands-free help opening passenger doors and the tail gate with just the push of a button. This feature made it so easy for loading and unloading both passengers and groceries. And folding the third row seats away to allow for more cargo space was quick and hassle free. Even my grand kids could do it. The mirrors even fold in when you turn the car off and fold back out when you turn it back on. Gave me more room in parking spaces!

With all the weather changes this week I got to try out many of the Sedona’s other features like the heated steering wheel (love that), the outside heated mirrors, the tri-zone automatic climate control (kept everyone warm/cool and happy) and lots of use of the front and back windshield wipers (all speeds).

A couple of great surprise features in the Sedona were the built in flash light in the cargo area, the cooled glove box for chilling water or drinks on trips and the built in hide away sun screens for the comfort of the second row passengers.

Of course the Sadona comes with many safety features including brake assist, traction control and tire pressure monitoring. This vehicle has a 5-star overall safety rating!

Everyone loved the beautiful plush two-tone interior with wood-grain and metallic accents. Very classy. And needless to say the grand kids loved the  rear seat entertainment system.

This car will check off many of your must haves in a new vehicle and probably some you haven’t even thought about. A good choice for a large family or someone that  wants a nice car for Sunday hauling at the flea market or taking friends to dinner.

**Full Disclosure: I was invited to test drive this car for a review. All opinions are my own.
