Next Visiting Chef Dinner at Lüke San Antonio Welcomes This Year’s James Beard Award winner for

“Best Chef – South” Alon Shaya on Thursday, December 10th


We’re pleased to host Alon Shaya at Lüke San Antonio as the chef will be wrapping up a record year. Already the chef/partner at John Besh’s Italian outpost Domenica and casual sister eatery PIZZA Domenica, Alon opened his namesake modern Israeli restaurant Shaya in early February to rave reviews.

Over the past few months, Esquire named Shaya the Best Restaurant in America; Bon Appetit awarded Shaya as one of the 50 Best New Restaurants in the country; and finally, Southern Living spotlighted Alon as one of the 50 People Changing the South. We’re thrilled to now bring Alon to San Antonio as our final Visiting Chef for 2015.

For next week’s dining event, Alon has appropriately prepared a 5 course Hanukkah spread reminiscent of what he’ll be serving at Shaya during the holiday season. Menu below –

Crispy potato latkes and spreads
Whipped goat feta, quince and walnut jam, salmon caviar salad
Apple Salad
Local winter greens, Pomegranate, fennel and orange blossom honey
Wild Mushroom soup 
smoked marrow butter and truffle crostini 
Veal brisket schnitzel
Tender lentils with Persian cherries and spiced almond pesto 
Hanukkah donuts with candied Satsuma and black tahini gelato

About Lüke’s Visiting Chef Series
In an effort to bring some of the culinary spirit of New Orleans to San Antonio, the Visiting Chef Series will invite top chefs from among John Besh’s 10+ restaurants in Louisiana including chefs Alon Shaya (Domenica, Pizza Domenica, Shaya), Erick Loos (La Provence), Todd Pulsinelli (Restaurant August) and Aarón Sánchez (Johnny Sánchez) to name a few. The private dining events welcome around 80 guests in Lüke’s intimate upstairs space which boasts views of both the city’s famed Riverwalk as well as Chef John Russ’s open kitchen.
