Hilton San Antonio Airport Welcomes Executive Chef Richard Jimenez to Asado
This newly opened restaurant which specializes in grilled seafood and meat, is conveniently located by the San Antonio Airport at the Loop 410/281 interchange.
Asado is a Texas Grill that offers fine dining in an easily accessible location. Once entering the hotel parking area you can choose either valet parking or your can park in the hotel garage. Walk through the conference area to the lobby where you will see the restaurant.
Asado has a welcoming modern, upscale decor which beckons you inside. You might want to stop into the Asado Lounge for a refreshing cocktail or beer before entering the restaurant for dinner. The lounge features a daily happy hour from 4-6pm where you can watch news highlights on the big screen TV’s or catch up on your favorite game while munching on appetizers.
If you decide to go directly in to the restaurant you will enjoy a varied menu of soups, appetizers, regular or entree salads and grilled steaks, seafood or chicken all beautifully prepared by Executive Chef Richard Jimenez. Asado also has a great selection of fine wines to enjoy with your dinner.
One of my favorite items on the menu was the Southwest Steak Salad. This Romaine salad with generous bites of tenderloin steak, roasted corn, black beans and tortilla strips was drizzled with cilantro dressing. This salad was large enough to be an entree.
The Salmon Carpaccio is a nice appetizer with thinly sliced fresh Atlantic salmon topped with arugula in a house vinaigrette all atop a toasted baguette. This was a very mild tasting salmon – no fishy taste here.
The Asado Crab Cake filled to the brim with fresh lump crab meat and complimented by the house made aioli is a really good choice for an appetizer. It come with a slaw that is probably the best I’ve had in a long time.
Or maybe you would prefer the Wild Mushroom Ravioli which is made in house. The tomato basil coli goes well with the woodsy mushrooms and the shaved Parmesan on top makes this a much loved dish.
Mixed grilled skewers are a great way to try several different meats or seafood delights on one plate. It also is a great way to get in a fair amount of yummy grilled veges.
Take the American Grill for instance. Here you get grilled tenderloin, chicken, lamb and bratwurst along with any number of fresh seasonal vegetables. Or if you would rather have seafood, the Seafood Mixed Grill with its shrimp, salmon, scallops topped with the house aioli is a great choice. The seafood skewer comes with herb rice as well.
Another option to consider for your entree is the Atlantic Strip Bass Mariniere. This delicate fish is pan seared and topped with herbs, roasted tomato and capers, all in a creamy white wine sauce. An exquisite dish to be sure.
If you are a meat lover but don’t want steak, opt for the savory braised short ribs in a Cabernet sauce. Served with pappardelle pasta to catch all the mouthwatering sauce you will be licking your lips with this one.
All entrees are served with Asado signature au graten potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables of the day. I go to try a beautiful tomato stuffed with marinated vegetable ribbons. An artistic side both to look at and to eat.
Of course no meal is complete without dessert and there is no shortage of sweets to tempt you at Asado. There is bread pudding in brandy sauce, cheesecake with berries, key lime pie or the star of the dessert show, the ice cream filled cream puffs topped with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce.
If you didn’t stop into the Lounge next door before dinner, you might want to go there for a nightcap before heading home.
Asado is also open for breakfast and lunch but I suggest you make reservations for dinner and try out Chef Jimenez’s gourmet creations. Asado would make a wonderful place to enjoy a date night or any special evening.
Make reservations on OpenTable.
