Official Beer Salt of the Largest Block Party in San Antonio, Fiesta, Honors the City’s Culture and Its Voices
Grab your medal sashes and Twang beer salt because San Antonio’s Fiesta® 2023 is right around the corner! This beloved city-wide celebration has been commemorating the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto since 1891. Today, 132 years later, South Texans are still honoring this tradition. Although the way we celebrate may be a little different, we still pay tribute to the cultural heritage of San Antonio.
With that, it’s no surprise that Twang has been announced as the Official Beer Salt of Fiesta® for the second year in a row. Much like Fiesta, Twang is beloved by Texans with roots that run deep in San Antonio, and is synonymous with a good time! The Battle of Flowers Parade, the founding event that started it all, is the only parade in the country to be planned and directed entirely by women. Similarly, although not wholly directed by women, Latinas hold many of Twang’s top C-suite positions. For example, Tracy Watson is the Chief Operating Officer, Alicia Diaz-Blevins the Chief Financial Officer, and Elysia Treviño Gonzales is the Chief Executive Officer, President at Twang Partners, and the founder’s daughter.
The Treviño family that started Twang is native to San Antonio with family lineage dating back six generations to the Canary Islands colonists. Yet, it wasn’t until 1986, in their home garage, that Roger Treviño Sr. paved the way for Twang’s lasting legacy, creating a Latino-inspired beer salt with the natural ingredients we all love today. From helping package orders in their backyard as a little girl to today, Elysia has always strived to see Twang evolve. As a minority business owner over the past six years, while Elysia has been CEO, she’s been able to uplift other minority women looking to achieve success. Sales have also doubled during that short time.
Fiesta® San Antonio is one of the most anticipated events in Texas, so it’s only fitting that they’ve partnered with one of the most iconic brands in the state, Twang. At the various events, including Fiesta® Fiesta at Hemisfair, Battle of Flowers, and Fiesta® Flambeau, Twang will be offering complimentary samples of their versatile beer salts to party-goers along with the official beer of Fiesta®, Dos XX, Ranch Waters, paletas, and more. In addition, Twang will be producing a limited edition, Fiesta-themed packaging for their Lime Beer Salt, as well as medals, t-shirts, and more for purchase on their website. The festivities kick off April 20 at Hemisfair for Fiesta® Fiesta. Please visit https://www.twang.com/
