Long Awaited Arenas Marisqueria and Lounge is Now Open and Ready to Serve You
Arenas Marisqueria and Lounge, the long awaited Latin-inspired seafood eatery is now open. Grand Opening for the new restaurant and bar took place Thursday, March 16th. Hungry neighbors have already been flocking to the restaurant for a relaxed, delicious dining experience, craft cocktails and live music.
Arenas is an upscale Latin-inspired seafood restaurant located in the Stone Oak area at the corner of Hardy Oak and Stone Oak, owned and operated by the Vazquez family, who has over 30 years experience in the restaurant industry. Long-time friend and business associate, Issac Soto and family of the well-known Moonlight Ballroom event space, have partnered with the Vazquez family on this new venture.
“All of the recipes are family recipes. They’re our take on classic Latin dishes. We want to evoke the sense of being at a classier resort-style restaurant in Cancun or Cabo, but ultimately, we want to be authentic to ourselves and create our own favorite restaurant… a place we would like to go to enjoy a cocktail and some good food, and we hope San Antonio feels the same way!” says co-owner, Luis Vazquez.
The focus is on fun and frivolity in a sophisticated, more modern nautical-themed atmosphere, and the menu will feature delectable, scratch-
“We’ve been wanting to do a seafood restaurant for a really long time. We love seafood, and my dad makes a great ceviche. Everything, honestly, is so delicious. The shrimp enchiladas are my brother-in-law’s favorite,” says Luis. “Our goal is to differentiate ourselves from the other Latin seafood restaurants in San Antonio. We’re not reinventing the wheel, but the goal is to be more subtle, more refined.”
One of the most dazzling features of Arenas Marisqueria and Lounge is the carefully designed cocktail menu. The Vazquez family hopes to fill a niche in terms of those looking for a fantastic craft cocktail bar in Stone Oak. Delightful concoctions such as the Cantarito (seen above), made with Siete Leguas Tequila, Cointreau, fresh orange juice and passionfruit, topped with Squirt should keep northsiders very content.
Currently, Happy Hour takes place from 3 to 7 pm, Monday through Thursday, and features half off all signature cocktails and draft beer (premium and domestic), as well as $10 appetizers (discounted $2), including Luis’s favorite, the Tostada de Poke.
“Guests are loving our cocktail menu! It’s one of the big centerpieces of Arenas with juices being freshly-squeezed right in front of the guests at the bar – orange, grapefruit, lime and lemon. We also make our own hibiscus syrup and simple syrup. Our cocktails are pretty unique,” says Luis.
