About Tim McDiarmid & Evenings at Ivy
Canadian by birth, San Antonian by choice. Prominent local Chef, Tim The Girl is a master of farm to table cuisine and owner of The Good Kind Hospitality Group, which includes Ivy Hall Events, Tim The Girl Catering, and The Good Kind. She is well known in the culinary community for bringing the restaurant pop-up concept to San Antonio in 2012. Originally, the pop-up concept allowed local up-and-coming chefs to showcase their talents at a variety of locations around the city. This concept ultimately inspired the Evenings at Ivy series, where Chef Tim The Girl invites chefs to cook a private dinner for locals to enjoy in the beautiful gardens of Ivy Hall Events.
The first Evenings at Ivy series kick off occurred in April 2021, which included several local chefs who came together to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This second Evenings at Ivy event will be hosted by Chef Tim The Girl herself.
The Menu
McDiarmid will begin the Mediterranean flavor filled evening by serving her guests roasted tomato and grape toasts with fava bean puree and bitter greens along with farinata and grilled shrimp, pumpkin seed pesto and jicama for appetizers. The first course will feature chickpea fritters over greens and fresh coconut with preserved lemon vinaigrette, followed by a salad of greens, beets, berries, herbs & roasted grains for the second course. Lamb lollipops with mint relish, caponata and grilled carrots with yogurt & pomegranate molasses will make up the third course. Lastly, for dessert, McDiarmid will serve honey-sweetened mascarpone with berries and pistachios and biscotti.
The atmosphere of the beautiful garden oasis will be filled with entertainment including, live music by Julianna Rankin with special guests Leon Waddy, as well as fire performers provided by BreakThrough Entertainment.
About SARAH
All proceeds from this event will benefit the local non-profit organization, South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless (SARAH) which was designated in 2015 as the lead Continuum of Care (CoC) agency for San Antonio and Bexar County. As the CoC, SARAH secures and distributes funding for direct service providers in the housing and homeless community and provides guidance to strengthen policies and programs. SARAH is responsible for collaborating with, listening to, and collecting data from the housing and homeless community to ensure everyone has a place to call home.
“I spend much of my volunteer time in homeless shelters in San Antonio, providing warm meals to those in need. South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless (SARAH) is an amazing organization that provides countless resources for our homeless community. Because the cause is so near & dear to my heart, I felt this was the perfect organization for us to partner with for this Evenings at Ivy series dinner,” said McDiarmid.
SARAH had a few words to share about the partnership, “We are honored and grateful to be the beneficiary of this special Evenings at the Ivy dinner, hosted by chef Tim McDiarmid. Tim is an incredibly talented chef and a compassionate community member. I still remember her stepping up to feed hundreds of people in an emergency shelter during Winter Storm Uri. Selfless individuals like Tim, coming together to share their talents, time, and resources, is exactly what we need to create solutions for the complex issue of homelessness,” remarked Executive Director of SARAH, Katie Vela.
