About San Saba

San Saba is located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country. First explored in 1732 by Spaniards, Anglo-Americans arrived in San Saba in 1839. The county was created in 1856 and is bordered on the north and east by the Colorado River and crossed by the San Saba River, for which the county is named.

Picturesque and functional pecan trees can be found in the many orchards around San Saba county as well as in the yards of homes. Our pecans are shipped worldwide to businesses and individuals from the numerous pecan producers in San Saba.

The area is also known as a major agricultural area producing wool, mohair, cattle, and hogs. San Saba is a dynamic community with a diverse range of things to see and do.

From our thriving downtown businesses and retail shopping to our many historic sites and breathtaking wildlife and wildflowers, there is something for everyone to enjoy while visiting San Saba.
