Discover Spains Popular Food Trend at Hotel Emma’s Master Class on August 8

Join Chef Pablo Gomez for an experiential event where you can discover Spains popular food trend, conservas or “tinned seafood”, commonly found at tapas bars and restaurants in Spain.

 

WHAT:

Join Hotel Emma on Wednesday, August 8 for Master Class: Conservas to discover the magnificent flavor packed in conservas (or “tinned seafood”), commonly found at tapas bars and restaurants in Spain, and made using only high-quality ingredients.

Chef Pablo Gomez from Austin’s Spanish restaurant El Chipirón will be leading this interactive learning experience. A native of Santander, Spain, Gomez believes it is important to stay as faithful as possible to Spanish products and traditions. That, combined with a dedicated respect for food, a modern creative edge and a global approach to cooking and dining, inspired him to open his first restaurant, El Chipirón.

The event will feature a short documentary screening, lesson from Pablo, and conserva tasting.

Coservas will be available for purchase at Larder and Sternewirth will be carrying tapas and dishes specifically designed to highlight this exclusive ingredient. Individuals can also find a seat at Supper’s table to experience Chef John Brand’s creative uses of conservas in a la carte dishes on the lunch and dinner menus, available all week long.

Hotel Emma’s six Master Class days are part of Pearl’s Olé, San Antonio, a summer-long program that celebrates our city’s Spanish heritage and commemorates the city’s Tricentennial. Upcoming Master Classes include jamón (ham) and queso (cheese).
