New Cocktail Program Brings Special Bites and Drinks at Buddy V’s San Antonio
There’s a new boss in town and he’s bringing awesome deals to La Cantera with a whole new cocktail program. Think fabulous back-to-back specials throughout the week. I know, right! This vibrant Italian restaurant starts by offering Happy Hour specials Sunday through Thursday from 3 p.m. to close and
Fridays & Saturdays from 3 to 7 p.m. We are talking great deals on both zesty lite bites to crafted cocktails, wine and beer. You can enjoy these specials in their casual, upscale bar surrounded by pictures of the “Cake Boss” himself and his family or on their comfortable outdoor patio with a great view for people watching at this outdoor mall.
May I suggest you start your Happy Hour off with one of their specialty drinks like the Venetian Margarita served in a Buddy V’s hurricane glass. This delicious elixir uses Patron silver for its base, but it’s the Amaretto and Amarena Cherry that give it the intense cherry flavor you will surly love. Then the sweet & sour and fresh lime juice give it some balance. I cannot tell a lie, I truly love this drink!
If you want a different kind of fruitiness yet equally refreshing, try the house made Sangria. I think soaking the fresh fruit in rum is the secret to making it delicious. Or maybe it could be the Limoncello. Either way, my red Sangria with Cabernet Sauvignon was, quite simply, wonderful. And well worth the Happy Hour price of $5! You can also get the Sangria off the regular menu in a carafe if you want to share with someone. When I go back, I will partake of one of these juicy drinks again.
Some suggested bites are the Ravioli Fritto, a fried ravioli that has been stuffed with ricotta & Parmesan cheese covered in a rich pomodoro sauce and topped with basil and grated Parmesan. Mamma mia this is good eating.
Another is the flatbread or Buddy’s favorite pizza. It’s got lots of really yummy stuff like Italian sausage, grandma’s meatballs, molinari pepperoni, cherry peppers, ricotta, mozzarella & provolone. The crust is just as awesome as the toppings too. That’s what I’m talking about. Thank you, Buddy, for coming up with this one!
The Prosciutto and Cheese Board makes a nice presentation at the table and is made even more delicious shared. Thin sliced Prosciutto and Salami share the board with light and creamy ricotta cheese and an assortment of pitted Mediterranean olives. Served with slices of grilled filone bread, this board was perfect with the cocktails.
Now, I had to order this one off the regular menu, but I love fried calamari and this ample plate of Calamari Fritti scratched the itch! It was served with a slightly spicy marinara sauce for dipping. Adding thinly sliced lemons and Anaheim peppers to the mix made it different and even more flavorful. Please do try the lemon pinwheels as they are delicious fried like this and, as an added bonus, they are rich in Vitamin C. They even added some crispy fried parsley to the top.
Not to leave you hanging about the rest of the new cocktail program let me tell you what else this beloved neighborhood eatery in San Antonio has going on.
On Tuesdays, ladies can enjoy an extended happy hour schedule from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Enjoy a glass of wine (or three) on the spacious outdoor patio, or one of San Antonio’s famous local brews. Did someone say, “girls’ day”? Sip, sip, hooray!
And with irresistible drink deals and the ultimate Italian comfort food, Buddy V’s is the perfect place to kick back and unwind. Every Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m., guests can enjoy 50 percent off all wine bottles. Nothing beats Hump Day like “Wine Down Wednesdays.”
With all this happening every week at Buddy V’s at La Cantera, who can resist stopping by. Make it a shopping day with boozy benefits after you’re done.
