Krause’s Café & Biergarten is hosting a variety of events throughout May, including large celebrations like Krause’s annual Maifest Celebration and Old New Braunfels Heritage Night. Krause’s Caféwill also host food and drink specials from National Wine Day vino deals to “Thank Goodness School Is Out,” a happy hour celebration for teachers toasting to the end of the year. The outdoor patio section of the Biergarten will also transform into a competitive racetrack for the acclaimed dachshund dog races yet again while plenty of other entertainment round out the month. Friday, May 4
Along with Texas Hill Country Opera & Arts and The City of New Braunfels, Krause’s Café & Biergarten presents Maifest, a day enjoyed in Germany and many countries every May to celebrate the arrival of spring with a roasted heritage hog dinner and Maipole dancing. The celebration will take place in the Krause’s Café Pavilion at 7:30 p.m. with live German performances throughout the night. Saturday, May 5
The Maifest celebration will continue with German Musik and Dance. A musical performance by Village Brass Band along with dances at Seekatz Opera House around the Maypole for $2.
Friday, May 11
Join Krause’s Café and Oma and The Oompah’s on May 11 at 7:30 p.m. for a night of old-time polkas, waltzes and schottisches. This all free all-ages concert will also include sounds from Germany combined with American country, Mexican, and Cajun.
Saturday, May 12
Gear up for the long-awaited return of the outdoor Dachshund Races in the Biergarten. Krause’s Café welcomes dachshunds to race their way to the finish line on the turf patio. Krause’s Café will celebrate the city with Old New Braunfels Heritage Night, featuring South Texas food favorites, plenty of steins, and a musical performance by Kori Free and the Groove Hounds starting at 8 p.m.

Head to Krause’s Café & Biergarten pavilion and celebrate Maifest with Alex Meixner Band. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. all weekend. TGSO: Thank Goodness School is out kicks off for local teachers. Krause’s Café will be welcoming teachers and faculty of New Braunfels and surrounding areas to celebrate the end of another school year. Starting at noon, teachers and faculty with their school ID or wearing their school’s t-shirt can enjoy happy hour specials and a little teacher appreciation on behalf Krause’s Café.
