Urban Herb Garden Julep
A modern twist on a traditional cocktail, we’ve combined a variety of herbs from the kitchen garden that complement the smooth, warm notes of the Trail’s End Bourbon, which recently announced a program with the National Forest Foundation where they have committed to plant at least 5,000 trees to help re-forest the PNW after the devastating forest fires.
5 large fresh spearmint leaves
5 large fresh chocolate mint leaves
5 large fresh pineapple sage, or pineapple mint leaves
½ oz Simple Syrup
2 oz Trail’s End Kentucky Bourbon
Herb leaves to garnish
Tear the mint leaves and place them in a cocktail shaker. Add the simple syrup and muddle the herbs with the syrup. Work the herbs well to extract their flavors. Add the Trail’s End Bourbon and stir well.
Fill a short cocktail glass with crushed ice. Strain the cocktail into the glass. Add more ice to build the ice over the rim of the glass. Garnish with herb leaves and serve.
