Burgers, Cocktails, Fries and Hand Spun Shakes, It’s All Delicious at this Burger Joint
I you want to sin on food, this is the place to do it. Everything, from some great selections of fresh-made in-house burgers to their awesome signature craft cocktails, is made to please. They have a passion for freshness, using choice all-natural ingredients and making everything by hand everyday.
I stopped in for their off-menu special St. Patrick’s Day O’Doddy Burger cause it was loaded with stuff I like that you don’t usually find on a burger. I hope you also had the change to try it while it was available March 14 – March 24 because this local food critic and influencer found it to be a really good burger. The O’Doddy Burger featured a corned brisket burger patty topped with sharp cheddar, house made Irish mayo and “Bubble & Squeak” slaw made with French fries and cabbage, served on a fresh baked egg bun. For the ultimate St. Paddy’s Day experience, Hopdoddy’s craft beer experts recommend pairing the seasonal burger with your favorite local stout.
I didn’t do the stout however but I did have one of their signature cocktails. The Doble Fina Margarita is intensely delicious and somewhat strong, but in a good way. Made with Silver Tequila, freshly squeezed lime juice, sweet agave and a house-infused triple sec, this elixir has the perfect balance of sweet and sour. It’s probably the house-infused triple sec that makes the difference! Rimmed in black lava salt, it makes a nice showing and I’m sure gives it a nod toward healthy, right! But all I care about is it really has a great taste.
They also do up their fresh cut fries from Kennebec potatoes all day, every day. These fries are the best you will probably ever taste. We tried both the regular fries and the sweet potato fries and both were great, fresh-made to order. And do try the Green Chile Queso for dipping. I think they should also offer this as a soup cause it is so tasty.
The Llano Poblano is an excellent choice for a delicious burger with a slight Tex-Mex flair. It’s the fresh seared Poblano peppers and the chipotle aioli that give this burger a great flavor. Made with Angus beef, some applewood smoked bacon and pepperjack cheese, this burger is my usual staple at Hopdoddy’s.
And you shouldn’t leave Hopdoddy’s without having a hand spun milkshake. If you do the Stout Chocolate shake, I’m sure it would pass for the stout to go with the O’Doddy or any other burger. It tastes mostly like rich chocolate but also ends with a stout finish. So there you go!
I had the Caramel Sea Salt shake because I just like salted caramel and what caramel lover couldn’t pass that up? It is rich in both caramel and salt blended to a perfect thickness. Oh, and I say get the whipped cream on top cause it is dessert!
