San Antonio Icon Celebrates 85 Years with a Facelift

San Antonio Icon, Earl Abel’s has a New Look, New Home and Same Great Food We Love

This San Antonio Icon is changing some things up! How do you celebrate 85 years of being one of San Antonio’s most iconic restaurants? With a facelift of course!  On Thursday, March 15, you are invited to celebrate as Earl Abel’s turns 85 and officially reveals a brand new look in the trendy Historic Pearl district.  From 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., you can enjoy free chicken drumettes, free birthday cake, free milkshakes for the kids, and 85 cent “Tipsy Earl” milkshakes for the grown ups.

“It will be fun for all ages,” says owner Roger Arias who purchased Earl Abel’s in March, 2006 and relocated it to Austin Highway before settling in one of San Antonio’s hippest new areas at the end of 2017.

Family friendly activities including balloons, face painting, a selfie station with the famous “Curly,” and music on the patio will round out the celebration and give customers a look at what the “Earl at the Pearl” has to offer.

“We are thrilled to be part of the energy and excitement surrounding the Historic Pearl,” says Arias, adding that while the new vibe is more “modern retro” in feel, customers will still find the exceptional service and delicious comfort food they have come to expect — including that famous fried chicken.

“We’ve added some modern elements that will appeal to our new customers while keeping the traditions and recipes that Mr. Abel made famous 85 years ago. History never tasted so good!”
