Inn at Little Washington in Virginia Receives Two 5-Stars Again
The Forbes Travel Guide announced today that The Inn at Little Washington has once again, for the 29th consecutive year, received two Five Star Awards–one for its restaurant and one for the hotel.
“The achievement of this award honors The Inn at Little Washington’s dedication to raising the global standards in luxury hospitality and recognizes its delivery of a service culture that is both genuine and trusted,” said Gerard J. Inzerillo, CEO of the Forbes Travel Guide. The 5-Star Award is reserved for the most exquisite properties in the world. The Inn is one of only 199 hotels worldwide to receive this top honor.
“We’re thrilled and honored to receive this coveted distinction and very proud of our dedicated and hard-working team who have once again made this achievement possible. It is especially gratifying to receive this accolade on the year of our 40th Anniversary. It’s well known in our industry that it is harder to maintain these awards than it is getting them for the first time because the bar is continually being raised,” said Chef/Proprietor Patrick O’Connell.
Forbes Travel Guide is the only independent, global rating system for luxury hotels, restaurants and spas, with an emphasis on service, and it has become a trusted source for travelers seeking the best luxury hotels and finest dining experiences. The Forbes Travel Guide is celebrating its 60th Anniversary this year.
Since The Inn at Little Washington first opened on January 28th, 1978, it has evolved from a former garage founded by a self-taught chef into a Relais & Chateaux property and a two Michelin-starred restaurant. The 23 guest accommodations include charming cottages and luxurious suites, designed by a London stage and set designer, in an historic, colonial town surrounded by the Blue Ridge mountains. The 26-acre campus includes lush, formal gardens, vegetable gardens and greenhouses, which grow most of the Inn’s produce in season. Unrivaled attention to detail in a picturesque setting of unspoiled natural beauty has made The Inn at Little Washington an iconic destination for discerning travelers from around the world.
The Inn’s 40th anniversary will be celebrated throughout the year with a series of events beginning at George Washington’s Mt. Vernon on June 16th honoring the relationships and influences that have shaped Patrick O’Connell’s remarkable 40 year journey.
